I've come to the realization that while their is alot of cool stuff on youtube (mostly music I just listen to at my computer) that is like 10% of the material there. 90% of it is complete shit like this, egotistical internet douchebags who use it for vanity reasons, and other types of garbage like anime music videos (type in naruto plus the song you are looking for in the youtube search bar and prepare to be disappointed)

I blame the vast amount of bad stuff at YouTube on the fact that it's so easy to post videos there, that even a 12 year old can do it. In addition to videos about creepy old ladies who talk the their cats, I've also seen a lot of stuff that was basically just straight-forward, old-school "home movies"; just like our relatives used to make us watch after they got home from their trip to the Grand Canyon or Yellowstone park ("Look, there's Uncle Bud over by the geyser! Wave Uncle Bud! Wave!")
I'm also painfully familiar with the anime music videos; my daughter and her friends actually put those things together sometimes, and if I had a dollar for every time my daughter came up to me and said, "You've just GOT to check out this new YouTuve video I found! It's the funniest thing I've ever seen!" ... and was then forced to smile and act amused while watching a Naruto video with a "I'm Too Sexy for My Shirt" music bed playing behing it ... I could retire right now.

I just saw A Johnny Cash Folsom Prison and a Doors naruto anime music videos on youtube and I died a little on the inside after seeing 30 seconds of each. I did some other searches and found the Ramones, Elvis, Roy Orbison anime music videos.
I think we could catalogue the decline of the internet (which was pretty low brow and stupid to begin with) and pin it on places like Wikipedia, MySpace, and Youtube. Great ideas (myspace not so much) but horrible execution.
