The crashing and smashing had been unmistakable; something large was around, something that didn't care if it made a lot of noise or not. Assuming it was a monster or something else to fight, Fang had of course gone to look; the sight of the dragon, however, clearly striving for the sky and failing again and again... She knew what that felt like. Like wandering around Cocoon, getting more people dragged into their mess,

Fang had settled down on the edge of the broken roof overlooking the shrine, watching him try and try again, until finally he just couldn't try anymore. Once he clearly wasn't going to be throwing himself all over the place again, that was when Fang slid off her perch to fall lightly to the floor, straightening slowly so she didn't startle him enough to make him bite her.

"You're pretty frustrated, aren't you?"

That's the thing: Toothless probably couldn't pull up the energy to bite her right then unless she put her leg in his mouth. Lasering was another story, but... He remembered Fang (admittedly not by name--she never gave it), so she was essentially safe right now.

He hoped, however, that she wouldn't realize how stationary he was. People tended to view a stationary dragon as a petting zoo, and he wasn't fond of that idea.

At her words, he closed his eyes, exhaling in a long and unsatisfied sigh. Was that a good enough answer?

Not to worry about that, Fang wasn't the one in the group that Toothy'd have to worry about random cuddles from. Now Vanille, on the other hand...

But she wasn't there, and Fang approached the downed dragon at a slower pace than her usual walk, again trying to not startle him. Pissing off large animals tended to not be good for one's health. "So you can't fly, then." It wasn't a question; it was more to fill the silence as she crouched, close enough to inspect him but not to crowd him. "That what that thing's all about? A way to get you up in the air again?"

Startling him wouldn't do all that much harm, for once. Fang was an ally, so he wasn't up for putting in the effort required to be hostile toward her in any way. Even as she approached, he barely offered a response, no more than the twitch of his tail. Even that movement was more uneasy than pending violence.

He wasn't even going to shake his head to herfirst question, though he did snort softly in a 'hmph'-like fashion. Rejecting the notion, not the woman. As for the second question... She must have been referring to contraption on his tail. So he offered a nod.

The noise certainly caught Kain's attention. He approached the area slowly, spear raised until he noticed Toothless and realized he'd been the source of the commotion. He put his spear away upon his back again before continuing his approach. After all, this dragon was still one of the very few who he still didn't want to cause unnecessary conflict with.

Still, Kain remained on guard, not yet knowing what had set the dragon off. "What's wrong?"

Kain was approaching from Toothless's front, so the dragon didn't have to turn much to see who it was. Another ally. So Toothless didn't seem to alarmed, though Kain could probably chalk that up to his obvious exhaustion. He couldn't muster up the energy to be aggravated.

He could, however, offer a little disgust. In fact, he did, though at the situation rather than the man. At Kain's question, Toothless closed his eyes in said disgust. For a second, it might have seemed like he wasn't going to respond. Then he opened them again and lifted his wings from where they'd collapsed, flapping once. Understand?

Kain had seen plenty of agitated dragons before to know the emotion Toothless was feeling. He watched closely, noticing the way his wings had simply... flapped down. It definitely didn't look right. Once that thought was in mind it took only a few moments to figure out that it had to be the reason for the dragon's frustration.

"Your wings... You're unable to use them?"

Hm. Toothless realized he'd probably conveyed the wrong sentiment, but just barely. He shook his head slightly, then hauled his tail around to set it in plain sight, nodding once toward it. One of the two tail-fins to keep him airborne had been lost when Hiccup had shot him down. It had a contraption to replace it, but said contraption required someone on his back to steer with their foot, and that was something Toothless wasn't about to allow.
