"Cosmos??"
Saleh turned, looking up towards the mountain top once again. There was no time to wonder what had happened. He needed to get back to the peak, and fast. And thus, he began dashing towards the mountain to begin the climb.

Kefka wasn't going to give any kind of further warning before launching a large chunk of ice at the back of Saleh's head.

He stood up slowly, looking up at the attacker.
"You..." He remembered Kefka, all right. The rainbow-colored madman that had captured him last time. He would not let that happen again.

"Can't have you going back to spoil our little festival, now can we~?"

Drawing his lightsaber, Count Dooku began the long ascent upwards towards the peak. Towards his destiny.

The first thing he did was look for Dooku. Coordination was the most important thing, right now. And the Count was the only person Jack trusted to issue orders.
As soon as he saw Dooku, Jack jogged up to him.
"Count! Where do you need me?"

"I intend to climb this mountain and confront Cosmos. We will see then if she truly is as helpless as Chaos claims," he said confidently. "I will require you to protect me from any of her warriors who try to interfere."
Reply
"Right. I'm with you."

Of course, to gain that power, he had to be the one to kill Cosmos. No one else. If anyone, enemy or ally got in his way, he wouldn't hesitate to fight them.
Abandoning his sword, he ran up the mountain unarmed, his cape trailing behind him.

Upon seeing a figure not too far behind her, Terra paused and watched him for a moment. She was certain he had never entered Order's Sanctuary, which alone pinned him as a warrior of Chaos. With that, Terra leaped into the air, unleashing Holy. The bright missiles of magic streaked from her, homing in on her target.

"What the Hell is your problem, lady?"

She then focuses on her next spell; Meteor. It takes some concentration but is worth the effort, as she summons several fireballs to slam around her enemy.

Chaos' orders boomed in his ears, and he bristled at the intrusion, at the presumption. After all this time, after all his schemes and alliances, he hadn't succeeded at making himself anything more than another slave. The stalemate had failed. He hadn't come up with a new plan to replace it. And now things had become even more complicated. Jack- no, Raiden, now- was here. Mutilated, broken, resigned to being a weapon. With his revolution a failure and the Patriots triumphant, Jack was the only shred of a legacy left to Solidus, the only mark he could claim to have left in the world during his life. And now he was here...
All I want... is to be remembered.
But how much of this would be remembered? The last, supposedly final war had changed nothing- all the 'veterans' stories were the same on that point. How much did any of this matter? Would the cycle begin again, erasing the past to start anew? Erasing him?
Solidus had no doubt in his mind that both these gods were his enemy, each ( ... )

He stirred as he sensed someone approaching, raising his head away from his brooding to see who was coming.
"Tifa."
She'd been part of the stalemate group, he remembered. That made her a possible ally, despite the gods putting them in separate factions. He examined her, saw which direction she was headed.
"Going up?"

There were other warriors ahead. Surely, they would reach Cosmos in time. She could spare a moment.
"Yeah," she breathed, "No other way to go but up, right?"

So naturally, Kurtis chose to travel up the mountain, rather than moving toward the enemy group. Protecting Cosmos took priority right now. Thankfully, the top of the mountain would be the perfect area to defend. If he managed to get to the top before any of Chaos' warriors, they'd never be able to get past his beams.
Of course, it wouldn't be that simple. Chaos had shown his craftiness in the last battle, and Kurtis had no doubt that there would be surprises waiting on this mountain.

As Kurtis traveled upward, Terra caught sight of him as she did the same while looking around for Chaos. The mountain itself presented no difficulties for her; she merely touched ground for brief moments while soaring up its side.

"Looks like your powers are well-suited to this battlefield," he said to Terra.
