Whenever Gabranth's explorations took him to the Rift, Terra would be there. She was standing atop the main castle area, peering about warily. The crystalline forms of mannequins moved about in the distance, and at the moment, she couldn't tell if they were Chaos' puppets or Cosmos'. However, given the recent imbalance, she suspected that a fair number were the goddesses' and wouldn't hinder or harm her.

Should she venture into Chaos territory for proper training, then? Terra didn't like the idea, and she knew that even there some Cosmos mannequins roamed...but at this point, one of those realms might be the few remaining places where she could get in a decent training session. It was worth a try, anyway.

Debating this, Terra leaped to the nearest turret.

Ah, the Rift. He remembered the odd land with vanishing buildings. The lone figure near the center doesn't go by unnoticed and Gabranth manages to relax a bit when he realizes who it is. Even when they were on polar sides, the girl had been resilient at the prospect of battle. He wonders what she is doing here.

"Exploring as well I presume?" He asks politely when he's sure he's within hearing range. For all his previous battling against the fakes, he looks hardly tired but then again it would take for him to be within seconds of expiring (again) for him to show any resemblance of pain. Some parts of his armor do look a bit scorched upon closer glance and the longer blade crossed at his back seems to be chipped at the end, and bears some round indentations akin to those left by bullets.

Terra turned abruptly upon hearing his voice. She hesitates, but...he's technically on the same side now, isn't he? And if he'd wanted to fight, he likely wouldn't talk to her first. So...why not. She leaps over so that they don't have to raise their voices just to talk.

"I am. I wanted to see if anything's changed...and it has. There's so many Cosmos mannequins now, not to mention the light...." The shift of balance toward Cosmos was evident all over the various realms, and yet Terra didn't seem reassured by that. If anything, she seemed on edge, fidgety.

The girl's hesitation is no surprise to Gabranth as he was never the most sociable person and is certain not to transpire any trusty or comfortable aura. He nods at her words.

"I've noticed there are many new fakes around, certainly of all those new warriors the deities have recruitted." His eyes stray upon mentioned ray of light and he frowns softly. "I've surmised that Cosmos is the winning faction now but the goddess has yet to show herself." He looks back at the girl as he makes the statement. "How long has this new cycle been raging?"

He understood all too well Noah's need to be alone. It was much like his own, to be honest.

Exploring this place had been quite a feat. So many of these new areas were quite unfamiliar to him, as were these new enemies. They were easy to dispatch, though some of them were harder than expected.

He left Ashe in the capable hands of Balthier. While his duty was to see to her Majesty, he had one duty before that - family. He had deserted his brother once, and had lost him too many times to count. He would not lose his brother again.

Back in the original area they had started in, Basch sat quietly, musing to himself over things. He had not been expecting to see Gabranth alive again. It brought feelings he had pushed down below the surface coming up again.

After quite a few chance encounters and battles, Gabranth decides to return to the original plane, eyes following the bright ray of light, scowling at his ill luck, accursed battles, trickster deities and life in general. Which was quite possibly literal because as, while he hadn't been sure of his own heart beat back in the underworld, now that the goddess had elected him, he certainly felt alive. Of course this happened to have a few disadvantages, especially if you tended to push yourself too hard as he did and there was never a handy stock of potions nearby ( ... )
