If this was successful, it would elevate Dooku both in the ranks of Chaos and the eyes of its 'divine' leader. Taking the tactical initiative in this struggle was the best path to victory, surely Chaos would see that and reward the Count accordingly. Right now, that was the clearest path to power Dooku saw ahead of him, and so he would dedicate himself to it wholeheartedly.
Dooku sent the signal to begin the operation through his crystal, then stepped through the crystal-portal to begin tracking down his own target. If all went as planned, the hostages would be secure before their friends in Cosmos knew what was happening, and then they would be free to make their demands.
