As you have all heard, a decisive clash is about to begin. All our fates will be determined by whether the next battle brings victory or defeat. There is no choice for any of us but to triumph. The rewards for success will be immense. The results of failure will almost certainly be the same ( Read more... )

[Jack carefully considers what the leaders in his home world would have done.]

We have to plan ahead this time. We need to organize into small groups to attack and protect the crystal. We've gotta learn everyone's strengths, too, so the groups are balanced. And we need to spread out the healers, too.

How many do we have who are capable of healing?

Um, I dunno. I can heal, but it works best if I'm with a group. And I'm not as good at it as someone from the Olacion Order.

We shall have to ensure that you are placed with a strong group, then. If there is no one else you would prefer, I would be most pleased to have you by my side on the battlefield. This old body of mine tends to be somewhat fragile in combat, you see.

[Terra's not the least bit interested in furthering Chaos' cause, but he's willing to play along if it means getting information.]

Suppose we lose again, and Chaos loses the war. What'll happen to us?

I imagine that we shall share the same fate as our master.

Figures.

My training focused more on fighting alone than as a team. Whatever plan we come up with, I can handle things by myself.

Very well. So long as you accept the plan and do not make your independence an obstacle to its success.

Why not rid ourselves of the weakest links, though? We're not here to baby anyone.

Because even the weakest piece can prove itself valuable if played correctly, if only to create a distraction for someone stronger. At the moment, the stakes are too high for us to treat anyone as completely without worth.

"A distraction for someone stronger" ... I like that idea. You do have a point. Anyone who slows us down can be used as fodder.

I have always found that any strategy can be improved through the proper use of those who are expendable. As they fall, the enemy is led to believe that they are winning, until the true stroke is revealed. Perhaps the Mannequins could be used for this purpose.

I know a way to gain a huge advantage over the weaklings of Cosmos. I just need someone with a strong heart made of pure light and then I can forge a weapon powerful enough to end the conflict.

It just so happens, I know someone on Cosmos' side that fits the bill. I just need to find him.

I see. Tell me who this individual is, and perhaps I will be able to arrange an encounter between the two of you.

The kid's name is Ventus. Short, blond brat with a weapon shaped like a key. To get to him, you have to watch out for his 'friends. One of them is on Chaos' side - Terra. I have a score to settle with him too.

Another traitor. How unfortunate. But could he perhaps be used to draw Ventus to you, I wonder?

I assure you, were it up to me we would have been united under my own a single strong authority long ago. However, it seems that the best we can hope for is that we act together out of our own will, and betray one another less than is usual.

However, I am quite eager to hear of any particular 'dirty tricks' you happen to have in mind, my lady. Our enemies appear to have several absurd ideas about chivalry that I would be more than happy to disabuse them of.

All fine ideas. Is there anyone in this group that you would trust enough to take with you on a raid or ambush, though? You could not do it alone, and it would be a shame for you to be the latest among us to suffer betrayal.
