[There's a sigh from this end, sounding like the boy who fought against his father in the last war, and yet the words spoken are definitely not his.]Time knows no mercy for those at battle, does it? A simple twist one way, and you're closer to victory. Another step, and you're falling into the endless abyss that is known as death. Just how long do ( Read more... )

So, you'd choose to do as we were told and fight without having any choice in what to fight for. It sounds like you've already turned your life over.

A soldier responds to the orders he is given, does he not? And how so? I know what my priorities are, is that not the most important thing in this war?

As for you thinking I have willingly gone and given my life already- [Chuckle chuckle chuckle.] Death took me a millenia ago, yet I still remain. Tell me, what does a dead man fear?

War is the stupidest action man can machinate. It solves nothing, merely leaves death and destruction in its wake. Yet you would embrace it, and willingly, from your words. Shall I take it to mean you are a glutton for such stupidity?

Who is the greater fool? The man who refuses to fight or the man who runs frothing for the idiocy of battle?

War is no different from pointless debate. Action is better than words more often than not, and only a fool would openly wish for war upon everyone.

That is not my goal. No, I merely wish to let you all see that there is no escape, other then doing as we're told, and as quickly as possible. There is a home I must return to, and finally end something that should have been finished long ago.

Escape and refusal of battle in war do not make a man great, they make him a fool and a coward who willingly leaves his neck out in the open for someone to slit it with ease. When there are gods who bring us from different worlds, do you really think it's possible to defy them? What good would that do if it were to happen?

I have yet to see a soldier disemboweled by mere words alone.

You are not the only one here with duties and responsibilities, yet, as I myself have come to realize, we are not there, therefore such is moot. At least, for now.

These gods who seek to have us do their dirty work for them, it seems to me they are not as powerful as you believe. If such were not the case, then why are we here? Why not simply stand down and refuse to brawl regardless? We are not cattle to be driven at the merest whim.

Then you've yet to see a man go mad from his own inner thoughts and ideas? How innocent.

I realize- yet no one has made an effort, so far as I have seen, to even begin to find a way home. If people are so insistent on getting there, then tell me what has been discovered as an alternate route.

[A pause.] And what causes you to believe this? For all we know, they could have brought us for their entertainment, not something merely focused on power. Gods and those in deities do not always play by the rules mortals set. Weaving in and out of the lines of logicality is their specialty.

[There is a chuckle at this, as he's amused.] Us, cattle? No. Chocobos, perhaps- there for a reason, and given the reins to drive the force behind us to where it wishes to go. If we step the wrong way, there could be consequences ( ... )

It sounds as if you're used to fight in wars.
