I'd agree, Mods. The last time someone was called out they were harassed by trolls until the thread had to be frozen. Someone will insist their guilt, someone will insist their innocence and it will go round and round until the discussion ends gets beleaguered and nasty, as it's already getting here.

In the beginning it seemed a lot of secrets about BatB/Belle fan-related secrets were localized frustrations about infamous stans. But now it seems the Pandora's Box on the craziness surrounding this movie has been farther flung than previously thought, and disneysecret has become some sort of safe haven from it/lightning rod for it. It's all very interesting o_q

THIS! Belle isn't my favorite and I'm not in love with BatB, but it did inspire me so much when I was younger and I do still love it and Belle, but it isn't easy getting along with my friends who are stans. Similarly, my favorite princess is Ariel and the stans for her drive me nuts too! I've noticed that Ariel stans are a certain type of personality, and I'm just NOT that personality. And it feels like they only obsess over characters who are of a similar personality and it just gets so annoying.
Additionally, this could probably be a secret in and of itself, I have thought for a while now that your reasoning is why so many of the Belle/BatB stans have taken to being in love with Tangled. At least from what I've noticed, esp. on Tumblr. In fact, I've seen so many comments that sort of support my reasoning. Comments like:
OMG Flynn's death is just like Beast's, OMG Rapunzel is a brunette, OMG Rapunzel and Flynn's romance is believable like Belle and Beast's romance, etc.

I agree actually. I personally have no problem with either and my great-grandmother was fullblooded Cherokee. It could be the way I was raised, being of multiple ethnicities myself, but I'm just not at all insulted by either. I feel like it doesn't make anymore sense to hate on these films because of possible misrepresentation than any other Disney film that contains stereotypes *shrugs* The problem is, whenever adapting something based on what history books tell us, there's likely to be something offensive. We can't go back and change the past, nor can we ever be 100 percent certain that we've uncovered the full story since we can end up with so many accounts of the same event that differs. Additionally, it's Disney. When has Disney ever cared about cultural sensitivity lol.

Pocahontas gets hate due to the whole "historically inaccurate" conflict. And like how the Anon posted above me, also because of the peaceful but untrue ending the film had. I love Pocahontas, so it's a shame.
Brother Bear's natives are from the Inuits in Alaska while in Pocahontas she is from the Powhatan tribe. So there is really no reason people would critisize Brother Bear. It's the facts that people bash in Pocahontas, not the use of spiritual animals.

It's awfully rude to call someone out like that and put them on the spot.

I adore both films, either way. :)
