[action] I RETURN...WITH AN EMO POST IN TOW! (backdated to a week-ish after BME)

May 12, 2011 19:51

[If you haven't seen Hiccup around lately, there's a very good reason for that. And that reason is not that he's hiding!

...okay, yes it is. He has totally been hiding.

Not from anything in particular, really. He's just exhausted after that last excursion into the mist--especially given how absolutely wrong it had gone--and isn't sure how to go ( Read more... )

[ATTACK. I mean, action. ] isntpersonal May 13 2011, 03:33:43 UTC
[ It's after she's returned to evening patrols she can hear the fire burning in the forge. Sauntering up, she's not surprised to see Haddock in there. While initially she'd intended to give him forever's worth of detention for being a hero, after seeing Astrid as heartbroken as she was first returning, she didn't have the heart. Astrid would be getting at least one day, but. Hiccup would be getting none. Not after supposedly losing an arm. ]

It's late.

[He wasn't expecting anyone, much less Helga. The sound of her voice causes him to straighten and tense, dropping what few pieces of scrap he was holding in his hands at that moment. He turned a little--just enough to see Helga in his peripheral vision.]

Really? I...hadn't noticed.

[No windows in the forge after all.]

[ She was inches away from scolding, chastising, and all of the above, but she couldn't. She would've done the same, after all. ]

Are you feeling alright?

[ Standard question. ]

I've sustained injury during a rescue before, but nothing of your caliber.

Oh, yeah. [He shrugs, although only with his right shoulder. His left arm is still aching and he's been trying to avoid using it.] Not the first time I've lost a limb. Or, you know, died inside of a dragon.

[ditto what helga said. :|] also, tl;dr! alwaysaxefirst May 13 2011, 12:47:20 UTC
[Turning up to Hiccup's dorm to find it empty, despite what Helga had told her, hadn't exactly been reassuring in any way, shape or form. The days after that had consisted of a listless, horribly anger-free Astrid hiding out in her dorm and occasionaly checking Hiccup's room- because he definitely still had to be back. Maybe she was just missing him or something.

A small part of her was beginning to wonder if maybe he was gone for good, but the Lieutenant had been adamant that wasn't the case, so she had ignored that idea as best she could.

Then, this morning, upon walking into his room for another quick check, Astrid had noticed something odd- things had definitely been moved around since she was in there yesterday. Things she hadn't touched.

She had just been missing him. For whatever reason, Hiccup wasn't spending a lot of time in his room- but the reason itself didn't matter right now. Her searching over the past week, the clinging to that last bit of hope- it wasn't in vain. She was sure of it. Now, the only thing left was ( ... )

attacks everywhere up in this bitch, man! notsoscaryname May 13 2011, 13:11:02 UTC
[And there he is, sitting at the desk with small strands and chunks of distorted metal, covering a pile of papers. He's decided to take a break from the heat and exhausting work of actually working the forge, and is instead examining the useless bits of scrap he created.

Man. What was he gonna do with all of these?]

not like hiccup's not use to em by now, at least? alwaysaxefirst May 13 2011, 13:20:00 UTC
[So, she'd been worried for his life while he sat in here and fiddled with pieces of metal? Astrid really, really wanted to be beyond angry right now, but the incredible rush of relief she recieved at seeing him alive was enough for her to decide to quell it somewhat. Mostly. A little bit. She wouldn't tear him to pieces, anyway.]

You!

[She half-limped over to the desk, her leg sore from the effort she'd put into getting here- and punched Hiccup in his good arm. Hard.]

That's for not telling me you were alive!

[Hiccup barely got any warning before Astrid barged over and punched him in the arm.]

Ow!

[His left hand instinctively lifted up to rub the area where his arm had just been punched, but then immediately dropped limp again when he was reminded that--oh yeah, his left arm, while now attached to the rest of his body, still hurt. A lot.]

Ow!

Astrid, I--

[Dave is leaning against the forge's door frame, arms folded uncertainly across his chest, staring at Hiccup.

Or, rather, at Hiccup's back.

He'd heard through the grapevine that Hiccup was back and not, as he originally thought, dead. That was a good thing. But the distinct lack of Hiccup anywhere visible told Dave that Hiccup maybe didn't want anyone to find him-and even if Dave went out and found him anyway, what would he say? Yeah, he was mad. Yeah, he was upset, too, but he was certain Astrid had done enough yelling at Hiccup for everyone at the Academy.

Probably.

Dave tries to take some comfort in the fact that Hiccup's out and doing something, but he can tell by the way the boy isn't actually making anything that things still aren't okay. Why did he ever think they would be?

After about a minute or so, he clears his throat to catch Hiccup's attention.]

All these people sneaking up on him, man!

He turns around and spots Dave in the doorway.]

Oh. Hey. I. Didn't see you there.

Um. What're you working on?

[He shrugs, picking up the distorted scraps on the table and trying to see if they fit in any way. Nope.]

Probably something useless.
