[ Tia seems a bit startled, but relaxes when she realizes who it is]

Lottie! Calm down, it's me!

[She releases something of a cross between a long exhale and a grunt, leaning forward with her hands over her heart] Oh TIA, honey, I'm so glad it's you!

[She's suddenly become attached to Tia, arms wrapped around the girl, clinging to her her tightly] You don't know what I just been through. My knees were shaking and rattling like you wouldn't believe. You sure do know how to scare the heels off a girl.

[She releases Tia abruptly and says in a hushed whisper,] I thought one of them dark misted things was chasing me.

[Lottie wasn't the only one, poor Lewis was a little bit jumpy at the current situation at hand. Luckily, he quickly calms down.]

Oh- Oh, honey you downright gave me a heart attack! I was so scared just now, what with all these shadows and scary misted things everyone's chattering about.

[She looks down at Lewis after her short relieved rant.]

[the peddler panics and shakes his head in surprise]

AAH! Mistress Lottie! You startled me quite well! I would have you know that it is not healthy to be bumped into by a screaming woman!

[Lottie sits on the ground and lets out a very bewildered, and loud sigh.] Cheese and CRACKERS, what a mighty scare you done gone and put me through. I thought you might'a been one of those terrible scary shadowy things and I just got the heebie jeebies and started running and -

[She doesn't even finish, just lets out another sigh with a hand over her heart.]

[the peddler sits himself down, then sighs] Everyone is far too panicked here. Even myself, who has seen much in years of traveling, I am no different.

Might I ask, however, what you are doing out here? It is far safer inside, where there is light, warmth and safe company.

Light and warmth and safe company would be appreciated darlin' and I might have had it if I hadn't forgotten one of those unruly little textbooks for Ms. Amelia's class back at the school building. Thought maybe I'd leg it there and back before anything turned awry and now just look what happened.

[The moment Lottie finishes speaking, a barely audible, nervous hum comes in from the distance. In an instant, Lottie is back on her feet, drawing her arms up looking startled.]
