[A great light streaked up into the sky above the Headmaster's private office, trailed by a small plume of smoke.
A flare?
It could only have been one thing. A cry for help.
Will you answer the call?]

Even Carpet wasn't immune to the effects of the Mist - Aladdin wished that he could have asked his friend what it was afraid of and offered a few meagre words of comfort - but it managed to get him to the Headmaster's office. Just.]

First one here.

[With an effective way of communicating with the rest of the campus, it was difficult to know what was going on elsewhere. It was difficult to know who was still part of the fight.]

I hope so...

What is it? Have you discovered anything new?

[Audrey had found out the hard way that electronics fried with the mist so close. Would explain why she had to fly blind the whole way to Berk and back.]

Astrid ran out of the dorms and over to the headmasters office. Looking around for the source of the flare, she called out to anybody that might be listening.]
Does somebody need help?

Over here!

Hey, you're the one who- [Nevermind, not really the time.] So what's going on?

[Audrey wiggled the empty flare gun still rung around her finger at Astrid.]

'Ey, Audrey. Helga said you'd let off a signal- does this mean we're having the meeting now? What's goin' on?
And please, get off that roof. Ya making me nervous.

[Then again, flares were their lifeline on expeditions. At least out in the open. they didn't do much good in damp caverns most of the time. But they made good signals in somewhat open areas.
...And great detonators.
She smirked at the thought.
When had she shown up, standing behind Vinny? His guess was as good as anyone's. She had the habit of doing that. Not being there then suddenly... being there.]

He wanted answers. His students' safety, as well as his own, was at stake. He hated being vulnerable. He hated being in a state where he could be taken advantage of or controlled. No, he had enough of that with Oberon. He wasn't about ready to take it from the Mist. But what he hated more was the possibility of his pupils being corrupted or kidnapped by it. There were his, damn it!
Though he was determined, looking unusually serious and calm, atypical urgency and cautiousness were clear in his voice and eyes. He wouldn't show his fear or anxiety, attempting to act a little bit like her usual self, though his trademark humor and amusement was comepletely missing from his speech and body language.]
You rang?

I did.

[Puck indeed sounded humorless. If not for his own self-righteousness as being multi-faceted, he would probably hate the fact his tone resembled that of Oberon's.]

[She could think of a few things NOW. But the flare seemed like a great idea.]
