Nothing to confuse the listener, nothing that can ensnare them or trap them. Straightforward isn't Facilier's favorite direction, but with the way ( Read more... )

Who knew that you would turn out to actually be useful.

I just may have to re-think my opinion of you.

I was hired at this Academy to do a job. 'S typically how the world works, funnily enough.

Maybe in a fantasy land.

[Facilier's smile fades. His amusement at Mozenrath is wearing thin, and fast.]

Lemme be clear. I'm not gonna beg for your respect, because frankly it ain't that important to me. But if you want any part of my services, you'd best watch yourself.

I've seen what the Mist does to you, an' we both know it ain' much of a sight to behold. So for the sake of workin' towards a common goal, maybe not being an insufferable brat is worth a second of your consideration.

Dream Training? [A bit..skeptical...]

Well, it involves somethin' more akin to waking dreams, but that's the gist of it, yeah.

What does the training exactly involve?

To put it simply: your worst fears, greatest desires, or if you're really lucky, both. All in the interest of sharpenin' you up before you encounter too much of the real thing, o' course.

...um do you know any ways to keep it the heck away from me? because that's all I want to know. Stuff keeps following me.

Can't promise to keep it away, but I can promise to give you weapons against it. How'll that do?

I-I guess . I'd really rather not get near them personally. But if they keep showing up. [he sighs]

Lemme put it this way: I wouldn' plan on them stoppin' anytime soon.

Dream...training?

[ SOMEONE'S SKEPTICAL. ]

bffsonotherside October 23 2010, 02:31:10 UTC
Yeah, couldn't really think of a better name for it, considerin' it's training that'll take place during waking dreams o' sorts.

And it's supposed to help you, how?

Oh it's not for me, Es, I got my own defenses against all this Mist business. It's for the students an' faculty who don't have the same resources at their disposal. 'S why I was hired.

What is "Dream Training"?

[A certain Arabian princess does think it would be wise to sign up.]

Jus' what it sounds like: usin' dreams -- or waking dreams, really, but it's all the same idea -- to help you build a resistance against the Mist. Can't exactly go after 'em with a stick, right? It's a mental battle.

obviousroyal October 23 2010, 03:00:37 UTC
I see.

How exactly will the dreams strengthen mental resistance to the Mist?

Well if you're used to it, it can't harm you quite as much, righ'? Think of it as practice for what's to come down the road.
