In a dark mood, thinking about people ending up with people that they don't belong with... but in a way more like how it happens in real life rather than, say, Hans and Anna. Something that began in good faith....

Anyway, Eugene went to Arendelle instead of Corona, for some reason, and in keeping with his tendency to find hidden people, discovered Elsa. And also discovered a plot (maybe by the Duke of Weselton and his cronies, or whoever was running the place as the regents) to undermine and eventually annex Arendelle before Elsa could come of age. Well, HE was of age.... Anyway, they wound up together, and it is a couple of years later now, and she has been crowned.

They do love each other, but not the way that they know that a married couple should. It's just so very COLD. (Bonus for duty sex that gets them off but does nothing more.)

When I first saw this prompt, I thought "eh, I'll pass on that," but it nagged. I might take it, but with an expansion that ups the ante. Would it be OK if, a few years later, he went adventuring in the forests outside Corona, happened upon Punz, kept seeing her, and ended up having a kid with her? A prince like in the original fairy tale, but with a hell of a catch. I really like the idea of him loving them both and not wanting to divorce Elsa, of Elsa having a huge issue with him wanting to keep his mistress around (I could even make it poly if wanted; there were bigamist European kings in the 16th and 17th centuries) but understanding that he is the kid's father, and the two women finally coming to some sort of detente.
