I'm only six months late, I'm so sorry
She stumbled out of the water, the sand hot on her feet-on her feet!-and the rocks sharp against the newly-formed skin. She wanted to cry out from the pain, to laugh at the sheer amazement of it all, but nothing came out as she opened her mouth. All she got, as she tripped over her legs (legs!), was a mouthful of sand.
Her toes wiggled in the tide as it cascaded gently over her ankles. How strange this all was! How did humans live like this? She scrambled up, fell again, and finally settled for sort of kneeling, once she'd figured out that her leg bones didn't bend the same way her tail bones had. They were so stiff!
So caught up in the novelty of it all, she'd forgotten about everything else, until she heard a sharp, angry little voice yelling her name. "Ariel!" Sebastian was shouting, sounding more furious than he ever had in his entire life. "Ariel, you-I can't believe you-do you know what your father will sayWell, Sebastian was Sebastian, she'd been tuning him out since she was little, but

At first Eric had assumed, well, what anyone would assume under the circumstances, but once he'd dragged Max off of the poor girl and fallen all over himself apologizing to the unlucky couple, he'd noticed that there weren't any clothes laying around, or even any footprints or...anything. Plus they were clearly having trouble walking, and neither of them could talk, although they seemed to be urgently trying to tell him something...
So the two of them spent their first morning of humanity being scrubbed-down by Carlotta, beside herself fussing over the poor little ducks, and Eric promising to keep them housed and fed until they could figure out what had happened and send them safely home. ("Boy's got some sense," was Sebastian's reaction, but Ariel was certain she'd be able to make Eric understand who she was soon enough, and then she'd be human permanently and Flounder would be safe and, of course, they'd have their voices back and could explain everything. By dinner, probably

The knock on the door startled her, made her trip again, but she managed the dash over (she was getting better!) and was even able to stop herself from falling a fourth time when she opened it to see Flounder standing there, wrapped in a blanket and looking sheepish. His face was still an open book, even as a human.
Ariel laughed to herself and pulled him into her room, twirling him around a couple of times just for the sheer pleasure of it before they collapsed on her bed. Sebastian, fortunately, had scuttled off her pillow just in time to avoid being crushed.
She didn't ask how he'd found her room; he'd always been more observant than her. She was so, so glad he was here, even as she was so afraid she was going to screw this all up and ruin his life, because what would she ever do without her Flounder? It was hard to brave when you were all alone. (Sebastian didn't really count.) Having him here with her, even just laying here in silence, she could really believe that this was all going to work. Tomorrow, tomorrow was when she

The next day dawned bright and sunny and oh, everything was so clear here above the water; the sun shone down on the world straight and true, not filtered and dappled by the waves. The town that Eric took them to was full of noise and color, humans lurching around her on their two legs, alien and yet strangely graceful all at once. Couples danced to music, the sound carrying differently over the air than through water, and she wished Sebastian had deigned to come along with them. He would've loved to have heard this

The announcement came that night: the prince was engaged. To the woman who saved him-she said, and no matter how Ariel tried to protest, no one understood but Flounder. Eric, who had seemed so close, almost like he could hear what she meant even if she didn't have a voice to say it with, now seemed...closed off, like there was a wall between them, a dam between land and sea. She spent the night curled up against Flounder, weeping for Eric and for herself and for Flounder most of all, poor Flounder, who had gotten caught up in this all because he only wanted to keep her safe.
This wasn't being caught hoarding human things, or being chased by a shark, or even giving herself up to Ursula. This was knowing that even though she was going to lose everything, so was he, and it was all her fault, all her own stupid fault...
Her tears were hot and salty on her face, and reminded her of the ocean. Flounder brushed them away, his fingers only a little awkward now; Ariel looked up at him, straining with all of her might to say I'm sorry, I'm so

three days to love - day three 1/2twiceunluckyMay 23 2013, 07:45:37 UTC
The wedding was a rushed and haphazard affair, because Vanessa (who did sound remarkably like Ariel, it was a little eerie) had wanted it that very day, and whatever she wished for was Eric's command. Ariel tried not to hate her too much, because even if she was a liar she obviously loved Eric; she never left his side, and her smile was so brilliant everytime he reaffirmed his love for her, as though she were finally getting everything she'd ever wanted. How was she to know that she'd doomed Ariel and Flounder? Maybe Ariel would've done the same thing, if she'd been in her position.
No. Ariel didn't hate her-she hated herself, for what an idiot she'd been. She stood in the bridal party as Vanessa's maid of honor, feeling the ship sway under her feet, and watched Eric watching Vanessa walk the aisle, his face full of devotion. He'd never looked at her that way. She'd never really had a chance, had she

But before she could so much as put a foot up, there was a horrible noise-a scream of harsh, terrible rage punching through the air, so loud and full of hate that it made her ears burn-and then a large white shape barrelled past her and over the railing

Ariel stood in the water, submerged to the waist-she would've gone out further, but she was still re-learning how to swim, and her father could stand (more or less) to be in the shallow end for once. This wasn't the first time they'd spoken since, well, everything, but it was the first time they'd managed it without screaming at each other.
"The king," Sebastian had told her that morning, on her way down to the beach, "has made his decision."
Good for him, Ariel had thought, but the retort had died in her throat. Three days of silence hadn't sounded like much when Ursula had demanded it, but it had been long enough that she'd gotten used to not speaking. Not having to speak, really, because she hadn't needed a voice to make Flounder understand what she wanted to tell him, and she couldn't think of that right now, she couldn't. She hadn't seen him since the wedding, she didn't even know if she could still talk to him or if Sebastian was just special, she didn't know if he wanted to talk to her anymore

This is really adorable and I love how you captured Ariel's bubbliness and Flounder's silent love for her. And I noticed that your icon changed as you updated. ^_^ Cute touch. The way you had "Vanessa" leave the picture was well-handled, too. So fantastic!

Bonus points if Sebastian ships them.

are you okay with a threesome, or do you want it strictly ariel/flounder? I can do either, I've just got some ideas bouncing around. :D
