Little Mermaid, Ariel anonymous August 4 2012, 00:33:31 UTC
I'd like to see a fic that deals with Ariel's eating habits after she becomes human -- like... does she start eating fish/seafood at some point? If so, what's the process like for her? If not, how does she deal with knowing that other people are eating fish? Does she ever try to stop people from doing it?

I may potentially take a stab at this, mainly because the Discovery Channel recently aired a special about how merpeople may very likely exist.

Wow....now you've given me something to go with!

Actually that documentary was not only fake, but the disclaimers were really hidden. Here's an article by a marine biologist about the fraud.

By the way that blog is full of way more scientific and entertaining articles. If you'd like some ocean docus with real science, I can recommend some, as well. <3

(I think it's an absolute crime that channels like Discovery are doing this kind of misinforming to their trusting audience, after building up their reputation. Makes me sad about the levels of anti-education going on.)

They sure had me fooled, though. And it's pretty sad that Discovery Channel has to resort to stuff like this to get an audience. Don't even get me started on how blown out of proportion "Shark Week" has gotten anymore.

Don't be sad, just be informed! I mean, this is why we have the BBC, right? Have you seen Blue Planet: Seas of Life? That's a good one, I rewatch it constantly.
