Captain Hook and Peter engage in one of their battles and are transported to the real world by accident.

There they meet James Hook, an children's author, who wrote/told his beloved son, Peter, stories of a magical place called Neverland and all the wonderful people that lived there.

Seconded! I can just see James being somewhat freaked out by this bizarre alternate version of himself, and AU!Peter following them both around like a puppy.
