Hercules is ecstatic when he learns that Meg is pregnant. She seems uneasy, almost angry at this, which confuses him...until she confesses that Hades is the father, not him. He doesn't let her explain himself before he leaves in a fury, not trusting himself around her. He confides in his father, calling her terrible names, saying he wished he had never met her. He trusted Meg,gave up everything for her, and she betrayed him with their enemy.
A few days later, he returns to their home having calmed down. He figures he should give her a chance to explain herself, but she is nowhere to be found. When he asks his father about it, he learns that Zeus smote the girl for betraying his son, figuring that she'd be happier with Hades anyway. Herc would never have wished death on Meg, no matter what she did. It gets worse when Hades appears, and explains the situation to them. Meg hadn't betrayed her husband. Hades had raped her, and she had been murdered and banished to a life with her tormentor because of it.
