[ Unlike most accidental videos that are broadcast, this accidental video is very brief, only signifying that Meg had tossed the sputtering and crackling comm across her dorm room and left it. She hated that noise, and she didn't intend on coming back to her dorm to listen to it anytime soon. Nope. She needed a pick-me-up. Potential danger be ( Read more... )

[The whispering seems muffled by the rows upon rows of books in the library, and there's no sound of static or buzzing with no electronics around. But Megara is still in sight from a window, and something passes in front of it without warning.]

[ An eyebrow quirks, and she's too caught up in her own thought to acknowledge the whispers. A shadow travels across her handiwork and she looks towards the window, much too late to catch sight of what it was.

Must be someone passing by. ]

[Two more shadows slip past the window, impossible to ignore now as the whispering rises to a permanent hiss, as though someone is breathing down Meg's back. The overhead lights flicker, and all at once what was at first a lonely visit to the library seems something more sinister by far.]

[ There would definitely be no ignoring that now. She peers up from her work to the window. Lot of people passing by didn't seem likely.

Another eyebrow at the lights, and suddenly a sharp shiver down her back.

No heroes this time, Nutmeg.

Still. She survived death. Well, she did that on a daily basis, but. Somehow, the thought didn't reassure her. Standing from the work table, she looks over into the depths of the library, back and forth, then sits back down. ]

[It was most certainly a poor decision to come on your own, Meg. All alone in the high-ceiling library, the shelves feel more like the walls of a maze than a barrier providing shelter. Suddenly it all feels very close, a clammy sort of closeness as though Meg were trying to grasp the hand of a dead body.

A thin, pearly, nearly invisible mist passes over her feet, thicker towards the entrance where she had come.]

[ She stands again, suddenly feeling very small in comparison to the library. Her hand ghosts over her scissors she'd been so furiously focused on only moments before, intending to use them rather as a form of self defense now, instead of for intense crafting.

It isn't until her toes remind her that they're cold through the ends of her sandals that she looks down and follows that cloud to the door.

Hades?

No. He might have had that effect on most people, but...this wasn't quite the same. ]

[At the single word from Meg, the entire world seems to slam in on her. Crushing darkness presses against her from all sides, deafening whispers hissing and tearing at her skin in a whirlwind of icy mist, obscuring her vision and filling her lungs.]

Hello? Hello?

[ Her eyes snap open. Death felt nothing like this. Was this what it felt like to be kidnapped? Suddenly she can't feel, can't breathe, can't scream and can't get away. She's bound in a cold, yet translucent rope, all Mist. The scissors are knocked to the ground with a light thwap, and there's a fluster of cut-up newspaper that whirls about, off the table and littering the floor.

So much for a pick me up. ]

Hello? Hello? Answer me, Me--

[The whoosh of the Mist washes out the desperate cries, at first harsh and unfamiliar, but if Megara listens closely, it's a voice she might recognize...

But there's no catching it again as it whirls around her, almost desperate in the way that it clings to her skin and clothes, clutching at her, seeking, prodding, pleading...]

Meg!

[ She closes her eyes, concentrating, fighting, feeling---Who was that?

It was almost as if the voice was crawling out of a forest, a forest that clung to it, scratching it, tarnishing it's identity. Her focus goes from fighting that ambivalent feeling, and focusing on that voice, calling out to her. Maybe even helping her.

Who? ]

[The Mist drowns out her hearing again, but for the moment, her vision clears. And there, before her, his shape twisting in the fog and wind around her, shapeless yet distinct, is the face of her old lover. He opens his mouth to speak, a desperate breath caught in his throat, and then--

The roaring in her ears subsides, the Mist retreats through the cracks in the windows and walls, and Megara is left quite alone.]

[ She opens her eyes again for the second that she can't see---and what she sees boils up the resentment, anger and distrust she'd always had. And yet, his desperate voice beforehand tugged her heartstrings, and baked on that inner conflict of hers. Meg struggles, wanting to get away, to see, to make sure that it was all a trick, and suddenly---

Silence falls. She's left struggling against nothing but herself, breath heavy and knees weak enough to let her fall from her feet and onto the carpet. Hot tears well up in her eyes before she gathers that it's over. A look around the carpet and her clippings are strewn everywhere across the immediate area. A smiling, charming, handsome hero looks up at her from one of them.

Meg swipes it away, pulling her knees to her chest, and fighting back a sob. ]
