Awww, Dudley! That was unexpectedly sweet! And the cup of tea!

::is touched::

I'm also delighted to see that JKR hasn't yet resorted to ASSCAPS and is instead employing italics to indicate shouting. I do hope she carries on with that. It's distractingly annoying, imho, when Harry and co START SHOUTING AT EVERYONE.

Incidentally, was Dudley starting to get more muscle-bound in the earlier books? I've wolfed through Books 1,2,3,4 and 6 (had to make a decision yesterday, as I wasn't going to be able to cram both 5 and 6 into one day) and I don't recall JKR mentioning that - but she probably did. I wonder whether this was part of an earlier plan, or an active response to comments about fat characters always being portrayed as stupid and/or evil? (A pattern which Slughorn sort of messed with in the last book...)

What does Petunia want to say? What? Does she know something?

::is on tenterhooks::

I've been rereading/listening to the 5th book (my GOD it's huge!) and it does indeed mention that Dudley had lost weight and wasn't getting more muscular. It's mentioned that he's on the Boxing team at school and goes around with his friends and beats kids up. :P

I Love the Dudley scene. There's a heart in there, and we never realized it. Yay!

What about Petunia?
Who sent that howler to her in 5? Why don't we know? lol

i think the howler was from dumbledore, wasn't it? i think they say that somewhere in book 5 or 6 but i can't remember where.

and what the hell's up with dudley? is he actually becoming a good person? i'd never have believed it but now i hope it's true - proof that, even with parents as repulsive as vernon and petunia, you can still turn out okay. dumb, maybe, but okay.

and seriously, petunia just needs to stop being stupid and say what's on her mind. if we don't find out what she knows that we don't know by the end of the book i'm hunting down jk's phone number, calling her up and asking.

Aww at Dudders =]

But something really horrible just struck me. What if he's been imperiused? What if he's the source Snape and Dumbledore discussed? My paranoid potterbrain just ruined a really cute moment...

God Petunia, just spit it out!

You know, I never thought that Harry leaving the Dursleys' and their home (his home) would be so sad and touching, especially after all they'd been through. But, wow, it actually almost brought tears to my eyes. And Dudley actually wondering where he (Harry) was going, saying that he didn't think he was a waste of space, shaking his hand, ADMITTING he saved his life. WOW! And Oh Petunia, why didn't you say what it is you wanted to say! We all want to hear it. Though, I'm sure Rowling, as usual, is saving it for later.

*sniff*
