I know nothing about their source or whether the story has any foundation in fact, but Wonkette has linked to a piece from Australia's largest newspaper which says "a verdict in the first criminal case against Saddam Hussein is expected on Sunday, two days before the key US mid-term vote that has become a referendum on the Iraq war

springs to mind here. I don't know what else to say other than to just sit and watch events play out. I've done that since before we were in that country. "It was a badly written, terribly directed, and overfunded film; it never should have been made. But the public'll swallow anything so, why not..."

Okay - This is where I could be getting hyperbolic and though it doesn't really apply and by no means am I predicting such, in its truest sense, but your closer put me in mind of Apocalypse Now.
