It Rained, so Why Aren't I Creaky?

I don't often admit it and when I do, it is usually preceded by an "ahem", but I'm far enough into my forties, I know there's no going back. Sometimes I'll say that I'm old, but it's often just another way to say that I'm somewhat set in my ways, or that I recognize the futility of a fight. It's not that I want to be old and in my mind's picture, I ( Read more... )

I myself am a little shocked to learn that you are in your forties, partially because of how young your kids are. But then, it really shouldn't surprise me since a professor I work for has a six-year old son and he is in his late 30's if not yet 40.

It's the New England practicality of my wife... We didn't procreate until we could afford it and because she's the one with the career, while I'm the one who just makes it up, we had to wait until she was firmly established.

It was actually pretty well planned. Though, I will have to say that most everyone I know who's around my age with kids as young as mine, they're on their third to sixth, while we only have the two. One to replace each of us, based on that whole zero-population growth concept that was so popular, a few years ago and which recently put John Gibson up in arms. Though, hopefully, he had his tongue firmly planted in his cheek at the time and wasn't completely serious about the matter.

I was trying to think of the clerk you had, but I can't figure it out. I thought at first it might be one of the Zecco twins, but I'm pretty sure they graduated SHS 1 or 2 years ago.

Tech has a reasonable number of "non-traditional" students and your attitude roughly fits that model, so I could see someone thinking you were a student.

I have no idea how you guessed the person or how you know him, but I heard someone call him by his first name recently and I see his photo in the Mountain Mail's Senior section. If I could do hand gestures, I'd put my finger aside my nose because I didn't really give a lot of clues, not even a hair color. Wow.

I guessed him (I had a certain one of the twins in mind) because he always tripped my gaydar too, and I've known him for ~6 years because he used to do volunteer theatre things when I worked at Macey. He is generally straight as far as I know, and unfortunately fathered a child about a year ago.
