I am also reminded of the recent attempts by the AG to track web searches.
I have serious misgivings about this program as for it to have any use it will eventually result in some trampling of civil liberties. I am assuming this is designed to pick up a sudden spike in calls to the middle east or a known terrorist and that the end result would be a warrant being issued to receive the personal information of the owner of the telephone number. Of course to me it would appear that the basis of the warrant would be faulty as it was based off an illegal search. There is also the issue of identifying the actual person using the phone.
