A CHRISTMAS GIFT

The snow blanketed the old wooden hunting lodge set back amongst the pine trees, the tree tops bending under the weight. The roof glistened in the icy air as the moonlight reflected off the icicles clinging on for dear life. Two sets of footprints were visible on the footpath leading up to the front door now being hidden again under the heavy snowfall. Mr Cowley already on his way, to share in christmas drinks with his two operatives.

Inside the fire crackled, the logs well ablaze. The lights had been dimmed, the only light source the three candles, flames dancing on the fire surround and the twinkling fairy lights on the tree stood in the corner. From the kitchen the aroma of freshly baked biscuits wafted through to the living room, the smell of pinewood drifting through the slightly ajar kitchen window, a chilled bottle of wine breathing on the side.

Agents 3.7 and 4.5, two seasoned operatives, known for their precision and efficiency were stood infront of the fire surround, tasked with this mission. A simple task but for them it was an operation that needed precise planning and flawless execution. Agent 4.5, the most methodical of the two was stretching out his tape measure, a pencil stuck behind his left ear, calculating the optimal space, marking the spot. Agent 3.7, known for his stealth and deftness hung back waiting for his opportunity. With the measurements taken they began the meticulous task of hanging their christmas stockings. Each stocking was carefully aligned, ensuring perfect symmetery.

Finished and hung, the pair stood back admiring their handiwork. The stockings hung perfectly, a sight to behold, a masterpiece of military precision.

Doyle now retreating to the kitchen, grabbing hold of the bottle of wine and two glasses, he brought them through to the living room. Drinks poured they clinked their glasses together.

"Merry christmas Doyle"

"Merry christmas to you too Bodie"

"To a job well done"

"Cheers"

Wishing you a very merry christmas.
