Pros in multimedia zines: Full Circle 1

Dec 31, 2013 13:01

Full Circle is a multi-media slash zine published by The Nut Hatch Press in 1992. The Nut Hatch is gone now, so I presume this zine is out of print. I bought it second-hand via zine-list. None of the stories are (as far as I know) online. It has 164 pages. There are two Pros stories, totalling 25 pages, and three crossovers featuring Pros or an AU ( Read more... )

I really should add those Pros stories to my list. Though it's not likely that they ever will be online. (They aren't online, I guess?)
I like good crossovers, and Lethal Weapon and Arthur of the Britons are surely a treat! :-)
So far I only know one Lethal Weapon crossover(Lethal Doubles).
The other one, the Highlander crossover is not exactly my cup of tea.
The two 'pure' Pros stories... - well I really don't know if I would have bought the zine because of them!

"...smallish print, set in double columns, with a lot of words to a page..."
LOL! I really love my Kindle! :-)

Anyway, thank you very much! This is very interesting!
And for me as a reader who has grown up with thousands of beautiful online stories, it's like a journey into the past.
For me something like the Bigbang replaces zines quite nicely! I'm so grateful that there are so many writers and artists who participate each year.
And it would be a gift for all Pros fans, if more of those 'old zine stories' would appear online!

Thank you!

Hi, firle, and thanks for commenting!

I didn't realise you liked so many crossovers. I have seen another Lethal Weapon crossover but I can't remember what it was called. I'll see whether I still have it. And yes, the Arthur of the Britons one is an unusual choice for a crossover, but... Oh. Hmm, thinking about it, maybe it isn't? The character of Kai is played by Michael Gothard, who played Kodai in Stopover, and Kodai (miraculously not dead) appears as a major character in Falconhurst, which is also by Jane, so it all links together!

Print size - well, lots of words to a page is good in the sense that it is economical with trees and with postage costs. Double columns make it more readable when it is small print. But.. yeah, small print is a problem for lots of people. I am okay with that for now, but I imagine there may come a time when it is more of a problem. And yes, I love my Kindle too, and I would love to have some of the other longer zine novels on it.

it's like a journey into the pastGrin. My bookshelves, the time ( ... )

If you are an AotB fan, you would be welcome to join the AotB community!

In "Codes of Honour" Arthur and Kai were perhaps a little more romantic than I would have made them, but not excessively so, and they were clearly Arthur and Kai as we know them, which is quite an achievement for someone writing without the benefit of recordings. I thought the sex was well written, and fitted the setting. The whole thing was well put together and the political problems carefully thought through, and brought to a typical 'Arthur' conclusion. Definitely worth more than one read.

I appreciate your trek through multi media zines because I never buy them. I stick to only Pros content so I'm sure I've missed some good stuff over the years. After reading a few multi media zines in my time, I was disappointed by the small showing of Pros (or S&H or TS) so I stuck to my fandoms. Now I'll borrow a multi media zine to read. Thanks!

Giggle, my trek! It can sometimes feel like that - but at other times it is a joyful bound! I shall have to think to find a zine which is very multi-media but which contains an unmissable story for someone who will only be reading in the one fandom. Hmm...

*wanders off to ponder*
*ooohs, thinks of an odd one*

Okay, this is a new one on me. The closest I can find is 'Deathgame', which is a story in the paper circuit, and which I have not read. It's mentioned on the Hatstand list of 'stories with sequels', because it is a sequel to a story called 'Powergame' or 'Powerplay'. The first story is on the Proslib CD, but not - apparently - the second.

I don't know of any zine stories called 'Death Games'.

Sorry. I hope someone else can help!
