Pros in multi-media zines: Concupiscence 3

Dec 07, 2011 08:30

Bounding onwards through old multi-media zines. For background, see here.

Concupiscence 3 was published by Manacles in 1993. It has 155 pages. There are two Pros stories (which come to 23 of those pages) and six others.

I liked the Pros stories; the rest were a mix )

Oh, my! Wiseguy/BaB. I am amazed by how many times authors want to crossover with Beauty and the Beast. BaB wasn't ever my favorite although I did read a crossover with Miami Vice! I truly can't imagine Vinnie and Frank hanging out with Catherine and Vincent. lol. And yes, Jane Mailander can write some intentionally goofy stories.

Hee, I am just amazed at how much is out there that I had never known of.

It's Vinnie who does the majority of the hanging around down in the underground world. Two Vincents together :) Catherine is only referred to.

Jane Mailander's various Pros stories really threw me when I first read them, but I have come to enjoy a number of them very much. I have a particular soft spot for her 'One who has made a long journey' (Pros/The Crying Game) in one of the Oblique zines, the ones online.

I gather from my carefully kept review folder that I don't enjoy Maggie Hall much - not a criticism of her writing, just personal taste. So i won't be downloading Blue Skies.

I have never seen Eroica but a Swedish friend - met through the Connotations con (annual, 'up north' UK) - writes a lot in that fandom and I have come to love the characters.

Wolf of the Goddess sounds like something that would remain unread in this house.*g*

I'm really enjoying reading your reviews.

I found Blue Skies astonishingly different from Facets II, and both different again from Crazy Little Thing Called Love, but after reading these two in this zine, I could see more of an overall style.

I cannot believe that I hung around Pros comms for three months on LJ without coming across a single mention of Connotations, which I could have got to this year. Until someone posted to say they were on their way back. Boo.

I'm glad you're enjoying them. Always tricky to know what to include!

I haven't been to Connotations for a couple of years and have been firmly informed that I have to go next year. We could encourage each other... I love it but have been sidetracked by being away etc. Better planning is needed *g*

I bet this year now becomes problematic. But yes!
