Discovered in the Fairylights - all packed away...

Jan 14, 2011 21:09

This is the post that I never, ever want to make... properly closing down the Christmas challenge, and posting the final calendar and saying thank you so much to everyone who took part in whatever way you did it - even if it was just by being out there and reading ( Read more... )

Thank you so, so much for all your hard work. You bring a lot of pleasure to a lot of people. Obviously thanks are also due to the writers, vidders, artists, etc. but without your organising skills there wouldn't be quite the same sense of excitement. (Or the same ease of reference!) ::hugs::

Many, many thanks to you, and all the contributors, for a fabulous calendar ... I have really enjoyed the wide variety of daily posts.

I still have a few to comment on and, interestingly, I've only just been able to link to Ailcia's fic (when I couldn't before) but I continue to be denied access to RecyleMedia's. Is it just me? Have I been a bad girl? *g*

Hmmn - are you a member of the comm? I did notice this morning when I was going through that she'd locked her post - some vidders do, as using the music can be a touchy subject with some bands etc. Ah - I've just checked! And you're not a member of the comm! No wonder you can't see it! Just... well... get thee hence and join, Cat! (Also, then when you read your Friends Page, you'll see lots of gorgeous Dialj posts when they're posted... you do read your lj friends page, right...? *g*)

Again - Ailcia's was a locked post, but I asked her to unlock it (there's not usually any reason to lock posts to a community, unless someone has specific individual issues with being online etc, but lj has arranged things so that people who have locked their own livejournals default to locking anything they post to a community too - it's sooooo annoying, cos most people don't want them locked to the community, but it's so easy to forget to check - I spend lots of time running around going erm... did you mean to lock your post to Dialj/CI5hq...? * ( ... )

Aha!

I had assumed that I would have to join the comm if/when I decided to contribute something myself but as I had been able to comment then I thought it wasn't yet essential. Silly, bad me!

I'll see if I'm permitted to join. *g*

Yeah, the comm is an open comm, we did that on purpose so that even people who don't have ljs can read and comment. It's just this stoopid procedure of ljs, automatically locking all posts made by people who've chosen to lock their own personal ljs... It's a pain...

I always assume that everyone reads lj through their Friends Page, you see, so I always assume people will join comms that they want to watch/follow, but I know some people do just go to the pages when they want to, and of course then it makes no difference (except for the above!) whether you're a member or not. The only thing you can't do, normally, is post - and that's another lj rule actually, and not one we can do anything about. I can see the reasoning behind that one, mind - but not behind automatic locking!

Awww *sniffles sadly* But also *yay* for such gorgeousness and yay for us having such a well organised gal running it *g* It was, as usual, fabulous and I even managed a wee offering.

And *cough* Valentine's is coming up...

I know! *sniffles sadly too*

And Valentine's Day? Eeeeep! Although I guess it might tie in with and idea that I had... and I guess we've not had a Valentine's Day one for a while... cos we tended to have anti-Valentines... *g*
