The all-night grammar party

Last Thursday night through Friday morning, I discovered that pulling an all-nighter for work is a whole lot better than pulling an all-nighter for school. The coffee's fancier, there's overtime pay to be had, and your co-workers never expect you to say something like, "I really have been working on this project for 36 hours straight!" I really had ( Read more... )

I'm on vacation with my mother, and we both have colds. I read this out loud to her and we nearly suffocated laughing-- especially when I got to the part about the she camels and Condo Lisa Rise.

I hope your circadian rhythms have gotten back to normal.

Hehe! Changez Khan! Love it...

I have exactly the same problem with not being able to dissapoint people. I had a client dump a huge amount of work on me this week, which he needs back within seven days, and even although this client does this ALL the time, I still don't feel able to say, "Sorry, I need more notice than this," or even "Yes, but the short notice will cost you extra". Not quite at the stage of the all-nighters, though, and I'm pretty sure I'd be sobbing over my laptop too if that ever came to pass!

Instead of trying to fix the bad translations it would surely have been easier to have the original Urdu articles translated properly, but I suppose that, since they had already been "translated", no-one was going to pay for them to be done again.

Funny you say that, since the second phase of the project, which is a bunch of Bengali-to-"English" translations, was so completely incomprehensible that we had to send it back. I thought the Urdenglish articles were bad, but the Bengali (Bengalenglish?) stuff was much, much worse.
