Too Dramatic. First off; Merry Christmas everyone! The family are busy running around and cooking dinner so I decided to try and finish this off and post it up considering I have an hour before I get to eat.I realised I can't keep drama going for that long. Hopefully this delivers, and I think it goes without saying what's going to follow. ;) As always, comments are pure love. Especially as I have no beta or anything so I could be writing a huge pile of crap! Anyway, enjoy!
Santana pulled the collar of her jacket up as she walked down the side walk. She wasn't going in any particular direction, but once her mother had gotten home after picking her brother up from school the questions had begun. She immediately felt trapped and so left the house. The minute her foot hit the ground outside she immediately started thinking of what Quinn had said. She was desperately thinking about how she could convince Rachel that she had nothing to do with what happened. She found herself looking out over the park just down from Rachel's house and made her way to the swings before taking a seat. She rocked herself back and forth slightly and stared at her hands which were resting in her lap, staying like that for a while. A cold breeze hit her and she shivered before shoving her hands into her pockets, frowning as her fingers brushed against something in the process. She brought her hand out again and found herself staring at Rachel's ipod. She smiled lightly as she remembered the small brunette lecturing her on the importance of musical diversity and insisted she took her ipod to 'educate herself.'
She rolled the click wheel aimlessly before she just stuck it on random and put the headphones in as the Kings of Leon started playing. She closed her eyes and listened as she continued to softly swing back and forth. A couple of minutes later the next track came on and it made Santana let out a groan as she squeezed her eyes tight and tears began trickling down her cheeks. The night before all of this drama had started found the two girls snuggled up to one another in the Latina's house watching Les Misérables. They'd managed to get about half way through before Santana's little brothers came running in, begging them to play with them and of course Rachel insisted on adhering to their requests. She couldn't help however, the smile that broke out on her face as she watched her girlfriend hit it off with them both straight away. That night Santana realised something. She knew she was falling for the girl fast, but she didn't quite realise just how fast she was going until she had to genuinely bite her tongue to stop from blurting out something which she was sure it was still too soon for. She did, however spend most of the night lying in her bed going over everything in her head. How they they were complete opposites and really shouldn't work together as a couple, yet somehow the two of them made things work. She thought about what they'd been through over the last few years and how they'd managed to find themselves where they were now. How Rachel was one of the only people who took the time to actually listen to her... to care about her. How there was absolutely no doubt in her mind that she was a little bit in love with the tiny diva.
She dropped both of her feet to the floor to stop the movement of the swing and wiped at her eyes furiously before lifting herself up, pocketing the ipod as she started to quickly walk back towards the main road. She stepped off the grass and onto the side walk and began to practically power walk down the road towards the house of the tiny brunette that had been on her mind for the last twenty four hours. She had her head down and was so focused on getting herself to her destination as fast as possible that she didn't realise the person in front of her who also had their head down.
She winced as she felt herself crash into what could only be described as a brick wall covered in wool.
She growled and looked up and came face to face with the last person she wanted to see right now. She practically growled as her eyes met with the one and only Finn Hudson. He rubbed his chest as he raised his eyes and met the fiery Latina's ice cold glare, having the decency to actually look scared. He frowned as he stood up straight, towering over the cheer leader and folding his arms, trying desperately to look intimidating. Santana couldn't help but notice the boy had obviously come from the direction of Rachel's house, and it wouldn't exactly take a genius to work out he'd most likely been there. She shook her head with a bitter chuckle and raised her hands to rest on her hips.
“You don't waste any time do you. Typical, as soon as shit hits the fan you try to swoop in like some kind of hero and whisk her off into the sunset in a horribly clichéd way.” She noticed the frown crossing his face as he took in her words.
“She deserves better than you Santana, I was just trying to show her that.” She held up her hands to stop his rambling and frowned. She moved to stand right in front of him and locked their gazes as she took a deep breath.
“Listen closely Finnocence because I only plan on saying this once. I'm fully aware of what I've done to Rachel in the past and trust me when I say that every time I actually think back over all of it, I genuinely feel sick to my stomach. I'm not about to open my heart to you about everything because I really don't roll that way but I will tell you this. I've already decided that I will do absolutely anything and everything to make up for all the shit I've put her through and show how serious I am about my feelings for her and I'm not about to step aside for you or anyone else. I don't care how many people I have to convince, or how many slushies I might have to take, you had your chance numerous times and threw them all away and now it's my turn and I'm not about to lose this opportunity.” She eyed the tall boy as everything sunk in through his thick skull.
“You really mean that?” She frowned as she heard the distinct sound of a girl's voice and slowly moved to the side slightly to see three girls standing behind the tall boy. Rachel made a move to stand in front of the taller brunette, completely ignoring Finn and stared deep into her eyes. Santana suddenly found her mouth incredibly dry and cursed herself inwardly as she willed her brain to form some kind of coherent thought and then vocalise it. Rachel noticed the struggle that the taller girl was having and gently moved her hand to grasp the Latina's and lightly brushed her thumb over the back of her hand. Santana's gaze dropped to the tender contact the two girls were sharing for the first time since the incident and suddenly felt her body relax under the light strokes she could feel on her skin and the gentle chocolate-brown eyes that were still focused on her. She smiled lightly and raised her other hand up to gently cup Rachel's face and the small diva couldn't help but lean into the soft touch that she'd suddenly realised she'd missed so much.
“I mean every word Rach.” Her voice was barely above a whisper but Rachel heard her loud and clear and couldn't help the single tear that escaped from her eye and left a glittering trail down her soft skin. Santana allowed her eyes to follow the trail it made before brushing it away gently with her thumb. She gently brought the girl into a careful embrace and relished in the feeling of having the smaller body pressed tightly against her own. She buried her face in brunette locks and closed her eyes, losing herself in the feel and smell invading her senses.
“Come back to my house?” Rachel mumbled against Santana's chest and the Latina let out a soft sigh as she nodded her head. They stayed like that for a few minutes before the smaller girl let out a shudder causing Santana to pull away and grab her hand, entwining their fingers. She looked over to the other girls and sent them both a small smile as she began to walk off with Rachel.
They were sat on Rachel's bed in silence, neither girl sure of where to start the inevitable conversation. They ended up turning to one another at the same time and trying to apologise, before they laughed nervously and Santana motioned for Rachel to continue. She smiled softly and hesitated before sighing and reaching for Santana's hand, instantly feeling slightly more relaxed.
“I'm want to tell you how sorry I am. How I should have listened to you instead of jumping to conclusions, how completely wrong it was to have even thought of believing Finn over you even for the slightest moment. Most of all I'm sorry for even doubting you'd changed, even after everything we've been through lately. I want to apologise for all of that, but I don't know how.” She squeezed the Latina's hand and turned slightly to face Santana fully, moving her free hand to cup Santana's face causing the other brunette to lean into the touch.
“I made a decision, a promise to myself. I gave you a second chance and with that comes trust and understanding and so much more which I really haven't shown. I want to apologise but, just saying the words doesn't seem like enough.” Santana frowns as she watches Rachel take a deep breath, her eyes shut tight. She opened them again slowly and sent a shy smile to the other girl.
“I want you to know how much I trust you, to show you how much I trust you.” She slowly moved Santana's hand so it was resting on the top of her thigh and looked up to meet the cheer leader's gaze with a shy one of her own. Santana's eyes went wide as suddenly realised what was being offered to her.
“Rach, don't feel like you have to do this just because of what happened. I haven't even apologised yet.” Rachel let out a small laugh and shook her head.
“You have nothing to apologise for. You're not the one who slushied me, in fact you did nothing but try and help me.” Santana shook her head before standing up abruptly shocking Rachel, then began pacing in front of Rachel's bed. The tiny brunette frowned as she witnessed the Latina's behaviour.
“You don't get it Rachel, I promised I'd look after you and I didn't.” She looked up when she realised Rachel had moved from her place on the bed to stand in front of her, effectively halting her frantic movement. She was about to open her mouth again when she felt soft hands on her waist and even softer lips press firmly against her own. Santana's arms instantly moved to wrap around the petite girl's body and they stayed like that for a few minutes before Rachel pulled away, just as the taller girl was about to deepen their kiss.
“I get that you want or feel the need to look after me, but you've already done so much for me. I used to get slushied and tormented pretty much every day, and aside from the most recent incident it's practically completely stopped. You've been honest about everything that's been going on between us right from the start and not only that, but since I've been seeing you officially I've even managed to gain a few friends.” Santana smiled as her girlfriend recounted everything with an excited smile on her face.
“You know you still don't have to prove anything to me right? I mean we agreed not to rush anything and I'm fully intent on sticking to that, I really care about you Rachel.” Rachel's smile softened and she pressed another tender kiss to Santana's lips before pulling back again slightly, her lips still mere millimetres from the Latina's.
“I want you to. I'm ready to go there with you, if you are that is.” Her breath was light against Santana's lips, causing said girl to shudder slightly. Santana leaned forwards and claimed the smaller girl's lips in a passionate kiss, deepening it immediately causing both girls to moan.
Rachel gripped the fabric of Santana's t-shirt tight and pushed the taller girl back towards her bed, straddling her as soon as they both hit the mattress. Santana's hands found their way to grab Rachel's hips, before slowly sliding down to rest in the back pockets of her jeans, squeezing the denim covered flesh. Rachel groaned and bit down on Santana's bottom lip, shocking Santana. She suddenly flipped them both over so the cheerleader was hovering over the tiny diva and stared deeply into the girl's eyes.
“Are you sure about this? Because as soon as this starts, it's going to be hard as hell to stop again.” She smiled a little in an attempt to ease the tension of the situation and Rachel smiled softly lifting a hand to cup her girlfriend's face before nodding gently. She leaned up and pressed a kiss to Santana's cheek and moved to whisper in her ear;
“Make love to me Santana.”
