Umi hadn't been there since the last time they had all been together. How long ago had that been, two weeks? Three, maybe? Not much longer than that, though it seemed like a lifetime ago, already...that much had happened.
But here she was again. The snow was still there, half-melted, crunched by the footprints of at least half a dozen people but definitely there. A reminder of how cold it really was, since it had stopped snowing a while ago, already...boy. 'Time flies' really was an understatement -- she realized it in a weird way, watching the ship floating on the lake from a distance. This time last year there hadn't been a boat. This time the year before there hadn't been a lake. It was almost...a surreal thought ( ... )

So he bundled up as much as he could and took it slow, sauntering down the snowy streets down to the shipyard. It had only been a few days for him but it was still that afternoon a couple of weeks ago that stuck out in his mind. The three of them, the conversation they had, the conclusion... it warmed his chest to the point where he didn't feel sick at all. This wouldn't take long, would it? Just meet up with Zoro and discuss whatever it was he wanted to discuss.
Imagine his surprise when he saw two familiar shadows against the white snow, faintly illuminated by the moonlight. Huh. Maybe he had misunderstood something after all. Either way he quickened up the pace just a little to close the distance between them, raising a gloved hand in greeting.
"Hey." Quick glance at Zoro; what the fuck was this about?

The mystery seemed to thicken when she heard the crunch of footsteps in the snow, caught sight of the familiar cook in the distance - what in the world...? Surprise was obvious on her face, and she had opened her mouth to ask about this whole weirdo situation when Zoro spoke first. Following along blindly when she didn't know what was going on...definitely wasn't her strong suit at all. She tried it for a minute or two, she really did, though she glanced at Sanji to see if he knew what was going on any better than she did. But he seemed just as much in the dark as she was, so she turned back to the swordsman.
"Hey...what the heck is this all about?"
But by then, they had climbed onto the deck of the ship already. The moonlight wasn't a lot, but it was enough -- it was impossible not to see what this was ( ... )
