It was impossible to not notice how tense the swordsman was and that in itself was a bad sign - he had an almost inhuman ability to stay calm even in stressful situations despite his short temper and to see him worked up like this... not good. Not good at all.

The cook remained silent, tried to keep his mind as clear as possible. Focused on keeping his breathing calm, tried to slow down his racing heart, counted the footsteps as they made their way over to Marshall. Anything to keep his head from spinning.

One thing you learned as a pirate on the Grand Line was that the impossible happened every day. Sailing up mountains, hunting dinosaurs, watching cherry blossoms cover the night sky of a harsh winter island, sail your ship right up into the sky where Gods and angels resided... all impossible things that still happened. He had been there, seen it all with his own eyes and that alone made it possible for him to believe in other impossibilies. All Blue. One Piece. Things that might not even exist but most certainly did because that ( ... )

Surprise surprise. The cook had to raise an eyebrow at that response - damn, he didn't think Zoro was that kind of guy. Maybe this would have been a lot less surprising and a whole lot more intimidating if they had actually been talking about the same thing. Of course he knew that the guy had kissed someone before. He had even been around to see it, to his own great displeasure. Not to mention the fact that they shared a girlfriend: Sanji would've been sorely disappointed if Zoro didn't claim some of his rights as a boyfriend. He sure did, whenever he got the chance ( ... )

It wasn't really like Zoro to get something that explicit on the first try - especially when his brain was already in so much of a fog from the situation in front of them. He let out an almost playful scoff. Regardless of what it meant, Zoro wasn't completely inept. His conscious mind had its reservations. Reasons, rationalities to prevent him from giving off the impression he even had a clue ( ... )

The cook tensed up for a moment at the touch, surprised and a little impressed with how fast the swordsman had started to respond. He drew a shaky breath, felt how his skin erupted with goose bumps in the wake of Zoro's fingers. It felt... good. Really good. He couldn't deny that. Right now he couldn't even remember the last time he'd had physical contact of this kind and it definitely showed, his body reacting more eagerly than it normally would.

He closed his eyes, focused on the sensation of skin against skin. So far so good but he could feel the first hints of panic lurking at the back of his mind and he'd rather nip that in the bud while he still could. Shifting a little closer he let his hands slowly slide against Zoro's thighs, felt the rough fabric crease and fold under his fingertips. He stopped himself before he reached any 'interesting' parts, slipping his hands over to the swordsmans hips where he finally stopped for good. Pause, just to get used to this, give both of them some time to readjust.

There was something completely strange and foreign about the touch. Even with Umi, things were not nearly this intense. But the feeling of the cook's hands against this thighs, and then moments later, his hips... there wasn't really a feeling comparable to it. It made his stomach do flips. It was gratifying... in more ways than one.

That slight tremble had come back. There was a small portion of it that was do to fear of the uncertain, but it was mostly adrenaline. The closeness of the other man had his heart racing in a completely different way. Slowly, his hands had made their way to Sanji's shoulders. There was a mild pause; but waiting, pushing it off would only give them time to think. His hands began to slide down the sides of the blond's torso, pulling him just slightly closer to the counter while doing so.

Thinking. Yeah, that was something they should avoid at any cost right now. The cook took a deep breath, tried to suppress the shiver that ran down his spine as the swordsman's hands reached his shoulders. He went with that small pull, nudged Zoro's knees apart so he could get into a better position. All through this he kept his eyes shut, tried to keep his breathing steady and calm even though it felt like he was about to suffocate.

Being close like this was starting to feel a little awkward but he couldn't very well pull back. Instead he slid his hands up along the swordsmans back, pulling him into a surprisingly tender embrace before he let his head drop onto the others shoulder. He remained still for a moment, forehead pressed against the warm skin. Yeah. This was okay.

There was something so bizarre about how comfortable it felt. It seemed so natural, despite what it was. Despite who it was. Sanji's warmth permeated. It spread. He felt as relaxed as he possible could, even though the tremble was still slight. Comfortable, but scary. Unfamiliar, but yet still eerily familiar in its way.

His nose caught whiff of the scent of Sanji's hair. It wasn't anything particularly exceptional, but it was still distinctly Sanji. The embrace was nice... but it still hadn't accomplished what they'd set out to do. He still liked it, but there was more that needed to happen ( ... )

Unfamiliar in its familiarity... yeah, that was a good way to describe it. It was like suddenly finding new flavors in a dish you had already prepared a thousand times. This was Zoro, one of the few people the blond could honestly say he knew inside out. His habits, his preferences, his flaws. The little signals in his body language that betrayed his intentions, at least to the trained eye of the chef. A shift in stance, a frown, muscles tensing or fists tightly clenched - he could probably write a dictionary based on those signals alone. But this was a different dialect.

He didn't know what he was doing but at the same time he knew exactly what he was doing. This was just another battle ground ( ... )

He didn't stop. Not because he couldn't. There was nothing holding him back; They'd both fulfilled what they had officially set out to do. But there was something more pressing, gripping. He wanted to continue. He felt his shirt tighten as Sanji gripped it, and it only served to be fuel to the fire ( ... )

This was bad news, they were getting far too caught up in what was essentially meant to be nothing more than a test. It did feel good though, fucking great and whatever part of Sanji's brain that was still functioning tried to convince him that this could be a good thing. This way they would really get it out of their system and hopefully this would be the end of it.

Not that he wanted it to end. The test had turned into a challenge and he'd be damned if he was the one to turn away first now that they had pushed past the first barrier. His mind was a blur, dizzy and disoriented but one thing was still crystal clear to him - he couldn't back off. Not yet.

So he parted his own lips slightly, tongue quickly darting out to test the waters. The initial reluctance was starting to really fade away and maybe it was about time the swordsman got a taste of that 'expertize' he had mentioned earlier.

It was more than expertise that Zoro got a taste of. It was one thing the swordsman really hadn't expected to happen. On a night where very little mae sense, that was somehow the most jarring thing that'd happened in the last five minutes. In this case, however, jarring wasn't really a bad thing. It made everything more blurry than it was - at this point, Zoro wouldn't even be able to say how much time had passed in that dark kitchen.

But Sanji had the upperhand once more. This was something Zoro really didn't know; at the very same time, he wasn't about to let the shitty cook figure that out. His tongue had moved slightly - enough to make contact, but barely enough to have done much else. The waters were indeed being tested, and primal instinct or not... even the swordsman couldn't imagine pushing his limit too far ( ... )

One step at a time was more than good enough for the blond. Even if he wanted to take the chance to push some boundaries he was nowhere near confident enough to rush this. Their relationship was fragile as it was, probably even more so now and he'd really like to be able to look the swordsman in the eye when morning came ( ... )

Under normal circumstances, even letting the blond assert that much dominance would have been completely stopped in its tracks. But these weren't normal circumstances. And hell, they were both men. Zoro was finding himself okay with with the situation at hand. Somehow, he didn't find himself emasculated by what Sanji was doing in the slightest. In fact, it was really quite the opposite.

He liked it. Every last bit of what was happening felt as if it was breathing some sort of new life into him. He didn't want it to stop. Eventually, it would have to. They really couldn't continue like this, could they? It was them. And this was one night, to try and satisfy the strange desires that were lurking within him. But in this situation he found himself wondering if it could all be substantiated in one night. Would this be it? Would they be okay with it ( ... )

They were both men. That was something that was both reassuring and unsettling all at once and also something that Sanji tried his hardest to not think about. They were stealing time, a few hours where manly pride and principles and even the core of his very being didn't matter. If this had happened any other way he would have been freaked out of his mind, frozen solid by the mere thought. And now? He was encouraging it and even taking charge of the situation. How this would affect him - them - in the long run... there was no way to tell ( ... )

There was something in that hesitation that was both disappointing and exciting all at the same time. He was also a bit short in his breaths, taking quick, shallow gasps of air.

Did he know what he was getting himself into? Well, here they were and he didn't seem to perturbed by it. So maybe he did. But that pause was still long enough for him to think. To realize where things could go. That concept was a little more than terrifying, to say the least.

But he had enough control either way; It wasn't as if this could escalate to something before they'd snap back to reality... right?

Either way, there was still this insatiable urge to be near the cook. To stay close in the heat of the moment. To stop denying everything that had felt so wrong about even considering it - actually having it at his fingertips seemed to make it even more desirable than it already was.

He gave his head a short nod, not really moving from his spot. "...The fuck stupid do you think I am? Do you?"

Sanji shook his head, chuckling softly. Truth be told it shouldn't really matter whether they knew what they were doing or not, this was temporary at best. No need to worry about long-term consequences, they'd find a way to deal with it ( ... )
