He'd heard the screams, of course. How could he not? He was just coming back from the playground, having dealt with a case of these... strange attacks. Eald'narche was being seen to. He had to try and stop the other attacks.

So he wasn't dreadfully surprised to see Ace suddenly drop down before him. The priest moved like liquid. He spun to the right, trying to catch Aces hand as he moved, in the hopes that he'd throw him off balance.

His dark eyes widened slightly and his lips tugged into a dangerous grin. He felt the fingers wrap around his wrist firmly, felt his body being yanked back off his feet, but he didn't care. This was fun! He fell to the ground with ease but quickly rolled, twisting out of Abel's grip and away.

He shifted, bending his back and quickly snapping his feet out and under him to stand in one fluid motion. He lunged at Abel, dagger in hand and pivoted on his heel at the last moment.

He spun around to the mans left and as he swung around to face him once more, he used his momentum to slash at the man. He was aiming to wound, not necessarily kill, though the intent was there. Following the slash was a few rapid stabs. He wasn't really paying attention to if Abel was blocking, dodging or taking damage, he was just continuing his onslaught blindly. All the while grinning like a maniac.

Abel tried to dodge. But the speed with which Ace managed to recover and move with was astounding, for a human being. He was human, wasn't he? He tried to get just a bit of distance between himself and the madman as Ace flipped back to his feet.

That wasn't going to work.

There was an agonized cry of pain as the knife slashed across his chest and face, one stab hitting his shoulder, another few burying in nearly the dead center of his chest.

However, that blood... wasn't behaving normally. Abel fought to regain some distance, dodging and leaping until he's a good few feet away... and that blood is following him. Slithering quickly after, wrapping around him, re-entering the open wounds. Like a snake, one ropey strand dives back into that slash across his face, the skin sealing over the wound like a sheet. The slashes and stabs in his chest and shoulder, also sealing up as the blood slipped back into him.

As for Abel... His retaliation was quick. A duck, a dodge, and a viciously aimed punch for the stomach.

He was human, a very skilled, dangerous human to boot. Ace had trained and strengthened his body over years, he had to in order to survive the high seas. Even with the chip in place he managed to at least retain most of what made him a formidable pirate. After all, back when he was younger, he'd never lost to anyone, not once... not until coming across the man known as Whitebeard. Without his current devil fruit powers he had been offered one of the highest positions for a pirate with the world government. He'd politely declined of course and later came to be the fire user he was now ( ... )
