Kaoru held his ear to the door, listening carefully and trying to control his breathing. He nearly snorted in amusement, hearing Hikaru speak like that. It'd been a while since they played this sort of game, only this time it was friendlier, a harmless joke. He hoped they were not out of practice or anything like that. As if such a thing were possible for the Hitachiin twins.

He'd only met this Kid once or twice over the network device. From what he could remember, he'd found him amusing. Symmetry, symmetry! Oh, if only he knew.

He knelt down on the floor, trying to hear through the crack without having his hair touch the nasty ground.

Kid was still smiling by the time the door was opened. He was just so glad that his new friend loved symmetry and the door equaled eight. For eight was the best and most symmetric number in all the world. Everything was perfect when it was 8.

"Hello, Kaoru!" he greeted. Being this happy was a good feeling. (Too bad it wasn't meant to last; and knowing Discedo, it couldn't.) As 'Kaoru' said his hellos, Kid remembered that he hadn't actually been introduced to Patty. Lifting an arm, he gestured to the smaller Thompson. "This is Patty, Liz's little sister," he introduced them. "Patty, say hi to Kaoru."

Oh she saw it alright, but it wasn't like she cared. Liz gave Kid a dry look, for it was just a room number, and unlike Kid, Liz didn't care about symmetry quite as much as he did, or even at all.

Any further conversation was interrupted by the door opening. Liz didn't know what exactly to expect, though she arched an eyebrow, watching this new person. So he was supposed to be Kid's boyfriend?

Her gaze slipped to Kid, watching for some reaction, though it wasn't anything that Kid didn't normally do, but at least she had finally gotten his name, wince he hadn't even told her that much. "Kaoru, huh."

Patty beamed at Kaoru in response to his question, and when Kid told her to say hi, she opened her mouth and announced "I'm Patty." instead of saying hello, even though Kid had just said that she was Patty. She wished Kid would hurry up and finish talking to...uhm, what was his name? She had to think about it for a moment, before deciding his name had to have been Kangaroo.

So when Liz repeated his name, Patty looked over Kid's head, straight at her sister, and shook her head. "No Liz. No, you're wrong, It's Kangaroo." She said bluntly, nodding once, twice, and then looking back at Kaoru-Kangaroo, beaming once more.

...Hikaru had to stop for a moment -- just stop! -- and look at Patty for a moment. Was she trying to be rude -- maybe she was jealous? Or was she stupid? Was she trying to steal their 'Bad with Names' technique? Was it revenge for calling Liz, Laz? None of these questions were suitable to ask, so he just... smiled in return.

"Ah- Kaoru, Princess Patty," he responded sweetly, shutting the door as he finished ushering the trio in. "But if it makes you more happy to call me ... Kangaroo ... then you can." Hikaru looked at Kid, directly at Kid; he moved swiftly over to the boy, resting his hand on his head and playing with his hair a bit. "I think it's cute." His words were so emphasised -- all four of them -- as he beamed back at Patty once more.
