a plot of horrorterrors

Because, you know, you can't expect dead bodies without something following on its heels, can you?

As some of our older members know, the planet all of your characters are trapped on is no stranger to the supernatural. The dead don't have the best track record for moving on. Ghosts haunt the remains of shattered cities and monsters attempt to pick off survivors. That's life, so it goes.

But at least in those times, the worst you can expect is death. At least vengeful spirits don't try to become you.

Think for a minute about how your character acts. Not how they feel, just how they appear on the surface. It's hard to tell whether someone has a good heart or not if they continuously berate others, or if their violence is spurned by fear or mere bloodlust.

Now remember that there have been creatures watching these actions for a few months now. You know, the human-shaped shadows that you can only see out of the corner of their eye? There was no way to tell that they were staring on with envy and longing, just like there is no way for them to know what your characters have been thinking.

They can make some good guesses, though. Surely watching patterns of behavior have prepared them to act just like characters, right?

Well, they're willing to try. All they need now is to remove the real thing and take their identity.

And their skin.

OH SHIT, SON.

DOPPELGANGERS BE ALL UP IN THIS BITCH.

NOW ONWARDS TO VOLUNTEERS.

Make no mistake, signing up for this event means your character will die. But the good news is that the chip location isn't changing any time soon. Their bodies will be stripped of skin (premortem or postmortem, depending how badly you want to mentally scar your characters) and... will be missing for about a week. Not that this will really go noticed, though, since there's someone who looks exactly like them running around and acting like them, or at least trying to. Let's see how long it takes before others realize that there's something off about their friends. And don't worry if your character is new to the city! Even if others are slow to catch on, they sure won't be by the end of it.

But, you're probably thinking, what the hell am I going to do for a week while my character's a rotting corpse somewhere? Answer: the doppelgangers (for lack of a better term) will have the characters' communicators. So basically, you get to play as the monster trying to impersonate your characters' identities. How well they can pull it off is up to you, but remember, it's only how characters act and estimated guesses. None of them will be completely perfect.

But hey, if you ever wondered what it would be like if your character was actually a monster, now's your chance.

Stay tuned for updates! More details will be released this weekend and shenanigans will start shortly thereafter.
