I've finished two very quick paintings; one original character called Coviene and the other being Harry Potter...yes, it's actually Harry! Check them out at D i s a n t h u sI'm still working on my freelance gig... and it looks like another recurring nightmare for me. I should've realised I was going to be in this for the long ( Read more... )

Wow, your work always amazes me but this just takes the cake, so to speak! :)
I specially love the folds in Harry's shirt, the detail is what makes it great, like the small red lines in his eyes, wonderful.
The original drawing is wonderful too, I really like the hair, I must learn how to do that! Every time I look theres something that I didn't notice was there.

Hee, you're such a doll ^^ It was about time I made a Harry painting... he is, after all, one of my favourite characters after Remus and Sirius. Thanks for commenting!

Followed a link from quickquote. You take my breath away! Your Harry is... Harry. Perfect. The expression around the eyes, the mussed hair- just excellent!

I'm not familiar with Coviene, but that's a lovely portrait as well :)

Coviene is an original character, and not at all HP-related. There ya go. Thanks for dropping in and commenting ^_^

Your art never ceases to take my breath away and then refuse to give it back.

I can't compliment these two enough, but I suppose I will try, for your benefit :)

Harry: His expression is unique, one of curiosity above anything, and confusion and I can't get over how innocent he looks - but mature, not like a youth inncence. My morbid side want to thiink that this is after the war or something and he's been obliviated but that's tragic and so I'll tell that my normal mind says that he looks strong, which he does also, as if he's looking out over what he must do and he's resolute, confidant, and ready. There's this look of........ "it will be done" from him, and that is powerful. The birds behind him make me love it even more - what a weather to be under! And his shirt is perfect. It feels like it isn't evening but just dark day and that is spectacular choice on your part. This is my Harry - my Harry. I can't say anything more than that.

Coviene: First of all, I LOVE HER TOP. AAAAAAAGHHHH!!! I love how it looks so old and yet she ( ... )

It's always interesting to read people's thoughts on any artwork I've done because I'm not all that aware of what I try to achieve until I've actually done it... it sounds strange, I know. But there were a few things I did want to convey, and I was constantly thinking about them while painting.

With Harry, I wanted to portray him as an older (post-Book 7) character - mainly because it would be far more interesting if he actually survives in the end. So, I find your comments very observant and accurate (except for being Obliviated >_< ). He has this hard look on his face, yet there's something very small and fragile there.

I regret somewhat rushing this piece because I didn't have a lot of time to work on it (a day-and-a-half is quick for me), and leaving anything for too long almost always means certain death for the painting.

Also, if you pay close attention, I do hint at a choice Harry could make in the future... and it's actually a likely choice he could make post-Book 7, though that's only my opinion.

The biggest clues that people usually overlook are the ones that's out in the open. After all, you don't necessarily try and look for something that's not actually hidden, don't you agree?

You've done a lovely Harry. It's the closest depiction I've seen so far of the Harry-in-my-head. Just lovely. :)

Thank you ^^ I actually find it somewhat mindboggling (and quite a nice surprise) that most people who've commented on this painting find him very close, or the exact Harry they have in their head... makes me a happy panda.
