Epic Book List of Doom 2009

To celebrate the New Year this Epic Book List of Doom is my record of what I've read this year (with mini one or two line reviews). There are twenty entries (I've classed book series as one) but I've actually read 33 books, which I don't think is too bad for 12 months. That's 2.75 books per month.

I still have another tb fic to write for christmas belated. I'm re-reading dead until dark to get some ideas.

I much prefer the tv show myself

For me, the show has a much darker tone, which is why I like it. Its not Twilight: The TV Show. The books are much lighter (and there isn't as much sex and gore). Although there is more Eric in the books, which I appreciate *winks*, the characters don't seem to go through as much emotionally.

I just bought Stardust today at the bookstore! BOOKLOVE!

I also bought The Once And Future King, because I decided I need some Arthurian love during the Merlin hiatus.

Stardust is awesome! You'll have to let me know what you think! Have you seen the movie? The book sort of has the same tone as the movie, but the plots aren't exactly the same. I love them both equally. *hugs Stardust*

Arthurian reading is the ONLY way to get through the hiatus! The Once and Future King is on my to-read list at the moment. Hopefully, I'll manage to get it soon, although I'm prioritizing recenter books such as The Mists of Avalon as I've a sneaking suspicion they'll be easier to read.

I loved the movie! And I'm reading Neverwhere currently, so I figured I'd do a Gaiman...thing.

The Mists of Avalon is on my list too, but I've had a copy for ten years, and it's at least twice as long as Once And Future, which is 500 pages and no light read. So...I'm not sure which one will be easier. BUT I AM DETERMINED. Even if it takes me the whole hiatus.

Well, that's what they're there for- to get you through the long and interminable wait for series 3. I'm working my way through all the books and all the tv shows/films I can find to get me through it.

I really love A Room With A View, I'd definitely recommend it. There have been two screen adaptations (and both are very good)- a film done in the 1980s with Helena Bonham Carter in it, and a tv miniseries done I think last year.

Glad this post gave you a bit of inspiration!

I knew about the Helena Bonham Carter adaptation but not about the tv one, might try to find that one

The tv one is different to the 1980s one, but its just as good (apart from the ending, which I REALLY don't like, for reasons that will become obvious when you see it). I actually saw the tv one first, before I'd read the book or knew anything about it and I really did like it.

Oooh I read A Room With A View years ago and loved it, but now I only remember a few parts well, the rest is sort of a blur.

You should reread it! Since I first read it a couple of years ago I've decided to reread it every year, I love it so much!
