Drops of Yellow
Your head is spinning, and it can’t be because of your glasses. You know they’re fake.
He jumps a couple of times, a few of his silken scarlet strands following his lead. He makes a back flip and you can’t help but feel a bit worried. Yet you have learned to place so much trust on him that the sudden surge of worry dissipates and you just let the ghost of a smile form on your lips.
He lands with perfect grace. Something like that of a laugh escapes those finely drawn lips of his. You raise an eyebrow. He merely shrugs as he walks away, still laughing.
He tells you you’re hopeless. You can’t help but agree.
It’s not the glasses, you muse. It’s definitely not that. Neither is it the constant jumping and bouncing of your doubles partner. Curse that stupid headache of yours. You really are helpless. You need an aspirin, and fast.
He calls your name. You snap out of your mini-conversation with yourself. He extends his hand. You just stare at it.
He tells you to move faster, or else Shishido and Ohtori will skin you alive.
You realize you’re up against the pair, and want to hit yourself for actually almost forgetting that.
You take his hand and walk towards Court C. Atobe gives you an inquisitive look. Gakuto just raises your intertwined hands towards Shishido and Ohtori’s direction. He says something that goes like, “We’re the best doubles pair here. Don’t you go thinking you can beat us.” Or somewhere along those lines, at least.
You position yourself. You are ready to receive Ohtori’s serve. You miss it, naturally. You expect your head to act up again.
Strange, though. Your headache’s gone.
