Hiccup had clearly forgotten what happened the last time someone viciously pounded on his door, because he didn't even bother checking who it was before he swung it wide open.

"Oh...hi, Astrid. Uh, hi." He paused for a moment, trying to work out how to say this in such a way that she couldn't misunderstand him. "What are you...I mean, do you need something?"

Raising her eyebrow- a look she'd found appeared a LOT around Hiccup- Astrid pointed out, "You just said 'hi' twice Hiccup."

Okay. He was already testing the annoyance that was bubbling away just under the surface, and Astrid found she had to restrain herself from gripping the handle of her axe. Yes, it was a comforting gesture to her- but Hiccup might take it the wrong way entirely.

"Yes. Yes I do. I need you to properly explain this 'voodoo' thing to me before I find myself venting my frustration in unpleasant ways."

Oh... He'd had a feeling it was going to be about this, and as it turned out, his hunch was right.

"Well, voodoo is--" Hiccup broke off, trying to find words for what he wanted to say. In the meantime, he made vague hand gestures, his arms moving wildly in an attempt to articulate physically what he was trying to say. "Voodoo is..." In all fairness, he didn't have a clue what voodoo actually was. He just knew it had made him do strange, painful, and generally just bad things.

"I don't...actually...know. What voodoo is, I mean. It..." More handwaving. "It makes stuff different. It's like magic! I don't know how to explain it, it just...is." Yeah. Great explanation there, Hiccup.

Well, that certainly didn't help. Astrid could feel herself getting closer and closer to breaking point and it hadn't even been a minute yet- a new record, it seemed.

She knew it wasn't Hiccup's fault that he had no clue what he was talking about- but somehow that just served to make her angrier.

"Magic. Okay, great! But what does it have to do with you?" Her voiced raised in a threatening lilt, and this time she couldn't stop herself from lightly dancing her fingers over the handle of her axe.
