"slight astigmatism" means it's not bad enough for you to need to take corrective measures yet. your eye is only slightly footballish (rather than round) and you can still see relatively fine without special contact lenses. i, on the other hand, have a major astigmatism in one eye and a slight one in the other eye. yay me.
