I'm still shampoo free. I have no idea how long it's been now, but I got a lot of compliments last week when some friends I hadn't seen in a while were over. It was kinda cool. Now imagine if I got my lazy, anxiety-ridden ass to the mall to get a trim? The thing with not using shampoo is that you no longer have all those chemicals that hide all ( Read more... )

I'm still with the hair thing too :) I only got two inches trimmed the other day and that was just enough to get the dead ends out. I'm thinking I should have probably done a little more but that works. As per usual, my hair is prettyful. However, it is no longer dry. The only parts that get dry are the ends that I sleep on and that are exposed to the elements. You know...normal shyte. I still have those days where I look like a that stereotyped greasy PR, but that's ok, cuz -I- know I'm clean ;) The last round of vinegar that I tried smelled for just under a week this time, LOL! I have not tried the baking soda thing but probably will soon.

The baking soda just didn't work for me. I'm using a little bit of saltwater, the white vinegar rinse (I can NOT for the life of me understand why you smell of vinegar... vinegar dries odorless and it should all get rinsed out anyway) and the apple cider vinegar - all when I actually need it. Which isn't often. Maybe once a week, though I tend to use the ACV more often cuz it makes my hair feel so sawft.

does the ACV do the same thing as the WV? I dunno why the smell lingers either. I haven't tried the baking soda thing or the sea salt stuff either. though.

They say ACV helps with dandruff, too, but I never had a problem with WV so I usually just use ACV everywhere but the roots of my hair ( ... )

True, your hair will probably feel much better once the ends are trimmed. I got enough shopped last time that I'm still OK and shouldn't need it trimmed until next month sometime(only a trim this time, I'm done cutting inches off for now).

Thanks for posting the compost site, looks interesting and I think I'm going to try it in a few weeks(no sense starting now if I'll be gone a week, don't need dying worms). Are you doing the double bins stacked like that? Or is one bin good enough to start with? Thoughts, ideas?

I did the double layer bins. I only have one bin right now, the other is in the closet. When I want to get the worms out and get the compost, I'll throw the other one on top so the wormies will move into the other bin, making the compost easier for me to harvest. I also didn't use the layer of cardboard. They're perfectly happy with just some shredded newspaper. I love my paper shredder. One bin is fine, you just have to deal with the worms more when it's time to get the compost out.

Still considering getting a large tumbler type composter for Mom's house, though.
