I've noticed A LOT Of people are interested in ear stretching on my friends list and A LOT of those people are very misinformed about stretching properly. Everyone seems to be convinced they can jump gauges or stretch with safety pins or stretch like two days after they just stretched...and it concerns me because along the way someone is going to ( Read more... )

i agree with what you are saying , i also think that it has to so with the person and the way that there body heals. i went from reg ear holes to a 2 in one day. it hurt a little but it wasnt anything to much. a week later i went to a 00. i stayed there for a few years then i decided that i didnt want them anymore cause i couldnt get a job with them so i took them out, then i went back to a 2g. for me my body healed greeatly and i didnt even sleep with them in and they didnt close and werent even tight to put in the mornings. i have this friend who did stretch his ears as fast as me and his blew up, there was blodd everywheres now his ears are all scared up it looks like he was shot in his ears with a gun hahah. i think that its really great of you to be taking the time to inform people of this. you are so wonderful gen!

I agree that each person heals differently but I think its basically impossible for the body to heal in 2 days or even a week. Your ears may have felt healed but it takes a lot longer usually for the tissues to readjust to the change. I'd say you were extremely lucky you didnt do any damage to yourself.

i've been gauging one of my peircings by accident. I moved it to what I thought was an 18 from a 20, but really i had moved it from a 20 to a 16. That fucking hurt! The peircing is in my cartilage so I couldn't even sleep on it for a few days.

Yeah I would definately suggest reading BME for information about body mods. Its so educational and has helped me so much in my journey with my body.

I was stretched with tapers, one size at a time, from 16 to the 2 gauge. I was an 8 for quite a while, and a 6 for almost a year (I like my big 6 gauge hoops). Going from the 2 to a 0 was the only time I did it at home, and it did hurt more, and I almost rolled it (well, my husband did them, hes an ex-piercer). Its taken me about 4 years to get to my zeros. You are right, go slow, they need to heal well between stretches. I think a 00 is the biggest Ill go...

I have yet to meet a person who regretted going slowly. Its worth the wait. Yay!
