OOC: Chat Logs -- Brainstorming

Aug 03, 2007 02:52

Chat log from 8/2/2007 placed here for reference

Kerimeos (1:49:16 AM): Okay, Marisa, I have to ask... is there any humans Drath's been interacting in the area aside from Ophelia?
Kerimeos (1:49:29 AM): Business people, etc, etc.
dunmurderin (1:50:24 AM): Chances are someone might have picked up on the Combaticons' movements on Earth. They think they are L33t but...they also thought Earth Into Sun was a good strategy.
DragonEclectic (1:50:28 AM): Indeed. He gets supplies, and I doubt he does his own cleaning.
DragonEclectic (1:50:44 AM): Not in Mexico. You'd be weird to not have servants, if you're rich at all.
Kerimeos (1:53:24 AM): Okay. And does any of these people have connections to organized crime?
Kerimeos (1:56:05 AM): Or Cobra?
DragonEclectic (1:56:29 AM): Marisa? Dun?
dunmurderin (1:56:31 AM): The someones who might have picked up on the Combaties?
dunmurderin (1:56:58 AM): Let's see, there's the FARC encampment they wiped out which probably pissed off a lotta people in FARC.
dunmurderin (1:57:12 AM): Which also probably spread the word that the Combaticons are not to be trusted (Well duh) No rly!
Tsa Paper (1:57:47 AM): Not really. Drath has been very hush-hush about it.
Tsa Paper (1:57:55 AM): After the first incident he needs to lay low
dunmurderin (1:57:59 AM): And I'd assume Cobra would have some ties to FARC, if nothing else through Destro's Iron Grenadiers.
Tsa Paper (1:58:12 AM): If someone wants to throw Cobra in there, I could work them in, but I don't know GI Joe canon
dunmurderin (1:58:17 AM): Where as the Combaties, prior to stealing the shuttle, were about as subtle as a trainwreck.
Tsa Paper (1:58:18 AM): so I couldn't do it on my own
Kerimeos (1:58:56 AM): Well, Blackstar raided Cobra's computer databanks, see, at Castle Destro... so any information Cobra might have, Frostbite might have.
dunmurderin (1:59:33 AM): And Swindle has probably had connections to various black markets trying to move some of the goods stolen from the Autobots to provide food/weapons/supplies for the Combaties.
Tsa Paper (2:00:50 AM): Why do we need to go into that much detail with Drath, anyway? I suppose he has servants around, it would make sense, but I doubt he would let many in on the Ambassador situation
Sosochan001 (2:01:31 AM): because espionage is fun Marisa
Kerimeos (2:01:34 AM): The goods aren't the Autobots though. Frosty arranged for the goods 'donated' from other sources.
dunmurderin (2:02:07 AM): Still, Swindle's movements can be tracked. He's likely been spotted in various shady places by various shady people.

As above, the following is speculation and brainstorming meant to spark ideas and may or may not bear any resemblance to actual RP.

dunmurderin (2:23:43 AM): If you guys need a way to track the Combaties through Cobra, I got a couple ideas.
DragonEclectic (2:24:30 AM): *listens*
dunmurderin (2:25:03 AM): *cracks knuckles* Lemme think a minute
dunmurderin (2:25:23 AM): The records were stolen from Castle Destro, right?
ThatDamnTape (2:26:38 AM): I think so.
dunmurderin (2:29:02 AM): [This is a series of different posts by me that have had their name/timestamp removed for ease of reading.] H'okay, that makes it easier but it'd work regardless. Destro is an arms dealer who owns MARS, Inc, the company that manufactures his weapons.

He's also in charge of a group called the Iron Grenadiers, who are essentially mercenaries/traveling salesmen for MARS.

It's fairly safe to assume that there were probably a few Iron Grenadiers in the area when the Combaticons smooshed the FARC encampment where they'd been staying.

the whole FARC post, for clarity.

The Iron Grenadiers likely didn't interfere with the attack, but instead reported it through channels back to their COs and eventually up the chain to Destro who was likely not happy since a) the Cbats killed customers and b) a gestalt team is running around off its leash.

Unlikely to want to hunt the Combaties down, Destro likely put a trace on their movements, assigning Iron Grenadiers and Cobra tele-vipers to listen for strange rumors/reports of potential Cbat activity.

The Combaticons were careful after they left FARC and stole the shuttle/supplies, but they were giant robot careful. A report of a driverless Jeep making arms deals here; a towering giant wiping out an enemy insurgent camp in there...the data tracked them to a point, then lost them.

That point being here

The Combaticons are now a blip on the radar again. Nothing necessarily concrete, but enough information to know they're in Mexico (Marisa and I decided to handwave things and have the Combaties be in Mexico when we start up again).
