Have you contacted the United Way? They can connect you with groups that make one~time payments to cover bills you can't~~*especially* since you're on disability.

UW for southeastern Michigan brings up the county treasurer department. We're already on the hardship extension plan. We might qualify for the property tax exemption, but the deed to the house would have to be put in my name... and we can't do that until the back taxes are paid. Catch-22.

Call Salvation Army. Ask them for a small help. Ask United Way which of local agencies can help.
