Greetings from the middle of a heatwave! I am quickly posting this before my ever faithful laptop fries, and then I have to see if I can find room to sleep inside the fridge tonight.
thanks for the recap! i didn't think anyone could redeem the awfulness of this ep but you always point out the good stuff really well. the one other thing that bugged me is how they never really acknowledge how far merlin goes for gwen's sake. he's always been more like a brother to her than elyan ever was, and he's consistently shown through actions that her well being is one of HIS priorities, at least. but nope, if gwen's on-screen it always has to be about the arwen romance. sigh.
This is my favourite episode so far! The humour is brilliant and the action was amazing! Character development was all over the place and Merlin got to be BAMF! It had a good adventure in there too! I didn't think some of the episodes this series could b beaten, but this one beat them by far! Even Dragoon had some time in there!
By the way, I woudn't get too excited about the reveal because there might not be one. I don't think the Merlin team (except the actors) were ever interested in a reveal. I know it's stupid because of all the prophecies of Albion and magic being allowed back into the kingdom and Merlin finally being recognised, but we can't really do much about it. So if there is not a reveal don't get too upset. The reveal was the one thing I was looking forward to, so don't think you're alone in your annoyance.
I really should make an account here. I reply to most of your recaps, but you never know if it's me or one one else. I'm the person who was ordering you to do the episodes you missed :D
Thank you, Anonymous poster, whom will never see this reply. This was far and away my favourite ep as well, and I have to admit a little sadness to have it dissed so. :'( Merlin as the Dolma was brilliant - honestly I about peed my pants at that little flick of the wrist and "set her by the pool". I thought once he got the bugs out of the voice that it was surprisingly feminine, as were his mannerisms, and must give kudos to Colin's genius to be able to play Merlin playing the Dolma.
Also, how funny was it that Arthur flops his cherished queen over his horse like the proverbial sack of potatoes?
With all the darkness pressing in towards the end of the series, I appreciated the hilarity in this ep very much.
It's almost time for the next episode and I'm just now getting around to reading this. Time flies. Thanks for pointing out the good parts - I forget about them amid all the crap. Do all British male actors have to put on a dress to get their official "British Male Actor" card or something? I'm surprised it took this long. Colin's voice was hilarious, though
