OMG this was probably the most fun I've had with Merlin in weeks! There was drama, there was angst, but there was also some great humor to round it out. Dragoon's part in this was effing hysterical! I loved how he confused the heck out of the guards, and then got into it with Cookie. :D
Oh wow, that ending, though! That smirk that Gwen leveled at Merlin was HUGE! I was thinking, wow, Gwen, not a good idea. Your off-again, on-again girlfriend once smirked at him like that and since then, Merlin has been a constant thorn in her side, thwarted her objectives a bajillion times, and even crippled her sister when she pissed him off. You do NOT want to mess with him, or Arthur, or anyone else he happens to give a damn about. Seriously.
"(And now I have this missing scene in my head from the skipped years, where Gwen first became queen and needed a new wardrobe. And she didn’t have a handmaiden yet but, knowing how Merlin is quite fond of pretty gowns, Arthur sent him shopping with Gwen, thinking he was being so supportive of his manservant’s life choices and was basically an awesome and accepting human being. And he knew that Merlin was just protesting for show, so he patted him on the back and handed over a shiny gold coin and told Merlin to get something nice for himself, too. So at the end of the day, Merlin grabbed Gwaine and took that coin to the tavern and they both got so drunk that Percival had to carry them back to their rooms, one over each shoulder, and Gwaine confessed into the back of Percival’s shirt that if Merlin really was into that kind of thing, he would totally be up for it. The end.)" <-- OMG, I want that fic! x33
