dearstranger1's (and more recently, my) man, Rodger Corser, has just been cast in Ten's new crime drama, Rush along with Drazic Johnny Cooper Mark Moran Callan Mulvey. I think it's actually another crime show I'd be willing to check out!

East of Everything premieres this Sunday. Another one to at least check out, and even though it'll involve some viewing/ ( Read more... )

I keep waiting for your Australian boyfriend to do America! Is he really going to be in the Star Trek movie??

I am excited! Um. Vicariously. Because I only know him through your squee. but! It has been constant! So I feel very affectionate about him.

He is! As Kirk's father! And JJ Abrams has been overheard gushing about him at dinner parties, so we're anticipating a role in Lost or something for sure. *g* He also scored the lead in a thriller with Sean Bean (Root of All Evil) a day after his work visa came through so, y'know, it shouldn't be long now before he's all famous and stuff.

And, heh, I love how we feel a certain fondness towards other fans' TV boyfriends. Especially with the not universally known/liked ones. It's like we hold them out as extensions of our own fannish identity and it's always nice to know others approve.

Odd song choice for American Idol. I didn't realise *anyone* knew Farnsy over there. Paula's comment kind of bugged though. We have to put up with your crappy American songs all over our Idol! Yeah, we know them and all, but still.

Awesome, more Rodger on my TV! Thanks for the info. Draz is getting around a bit lately too, huh? Good for him. I was a little sad when Mark Moran died.

I'm a little worried about SHH in the US. It's just so realistically Australian. I've obviously never been to high school overseas but I wonder if there are any Jonah's and Ja'mies there too. Because I've definitely witnessed those characters in real life. They'll probably just end up thinking we're a little bit wrong here.

Paula's comment made me snort - they just had a BEATLES themed week and NOW they're complaining about non-american composers? What about Michael singing QUEEN songs that same night?

Rodger and Draz are spreading themselves over networks, huh? It looks like it could be a decent show with good actors like that.

And yeah, I do wonder how Americans are going to handle Jonah and Ja'mie. People have been comparing the show to the success of Flight of the Conchords on HBO, but while FOTC is about two Kiwi guys, it's *set* in New York, and a lot of the gags stem from the fact that their foreigners in the city (and often get confused for Australians).

I've obviously never been to high school overseas but I wonder if there are any Jonah's and Ja'mies there too.Yeah, the only image I have of US high schools is through teen dramas and movies, so maybe it's a little skewed - real life teenagers are nowhere near as verbose as most of those kids. It'll be interesting to see if they can relate. Even *I* know the SHH characters, and I went to ( ... )
