I'm wiped, but the big day was so totally worth it! And squeetastic review will come, I'm sure. And I wanna catch up and squee with everyone else once I've had sleep.
*sighs* I adored Richard utterly. See he already had a bit of an edge because of the actor who I've been in love with since the first X-Men movie (yeah, everyone else went for Hugh Jackman, I went for James) but as a character he seriously was just. Perfect.
Oh and yeah, this movie totally brought y fannish squee back. I would have to love it for that if for nothing else - but there's ever so much more reason to love it.
Sorry that this is so long..:-/tigergal05July 2 2006, 18:47:59 UTC
I am so glad I can talk about this movie with someone-finally! I saw it for the second time yesterday, and if it was possible, I love it even more. Kevin Spacey IS Superman!Lex (not like MR, who right now is Smallville!Lex) and Sam Huntington IS Jimmy Olsen-he played it so well I can't imagine seeing anyone else playing him. And little Jason-I agree completely with you-he was sweet, but not too sweet and he was just adorable. One of my favorite parts was when he was in the newsroom and his mother and Richard are talking. Clark is just listening in, and the TV shows a picture of Superman (which happens to be aligned right near Clark's face), and Jason looks at the TV and then Clark- he starts having trouble breathing as he realizes who Clark really is, and he pulls out his inhaler-I laughed so hard the first time I saw that part (and chuckled the second time cause it was just too cute). But anyway-yep. I thought that Jason would be annyoing, as some movies often make the kids in certain stories but I thought he fit in perfectly.

Heh, I'm so glad I finally can, too. I'm going to have to leave a review until after work today, but yeah, I *loved* Brandon. Enjoyed Kevin. Want to reach out and pull Sam out of the screen so I can have my very own Jimmy Olsen. *g* I have to talk more about Jason, too (*makes note*) because the impression he gave me hasn't been mentioned anywhere that I've seen and I think I may be projecting there. I'm always going to bring my Conner perspective to the story no matter how hard I try not to, it seems. *g*
I think Kate did a great job with what she was given.
I think so, too. The problem is I'm not 100% happy with what she was given. It's not that she disappointed me during the movie, though. It was afterwards when I thought about my idea of Lois Lane and tried to reconcile it with the one who has been changed by having a kid.

That is exactly what I think (I even put it in my review on my journal-lol), but yea-her life is a bit different with a kid and all, and the DP isn't her main priority anymore (but it comes pretty darn close!).
I wondered if it would hit you that way...the slight parallel to Conner, and how much he suffers by comparison. *sniff* I really do think Conner's story would make an amazing movie (even with *this* Lex and Superman), but since we can't have that...
Anyway, I've nearly completely talked myself out on this already, but I'm hoping to go again tomorrow, so I'm sure I'll get a second wind.
(Not 100% certain that this was the big reveal, but sheesh, people - as in, reviewers etc, not flists - have a hard time being *subtle* about stuff, y'know?)
Uh, yeah, NO KIDDING. I should've stuck with just the pretty pictures on that Entertainment Weekly article last week. *scowls*
The reaction was so unexpected, especially because I pretty much knew what was coming. And I really need to see it again soon because I want to give Jason a chance and, well, I'm not going to be sniping at *those* Christopher Reeve fans in one paragraph, and wailing about Conner in another.
So, yeah, separate universes. This was just a personal thing that had to be dealt with but...c'mon, we all knew I wanted to find a way to bring my Conner into this world. Conner's like my link to these characters in any given 'verse and to have him taken away *again*... I do have Conner-esque Jason ideas, though, which will probably be a post in itself soon.
I really do think Conner's story would make an amazing movieSomeday, we should get together and come up with a screenplay. Just for us, even. And then when I get in a Conner funk, I can pick it up and pretend there *is* a movie and maybe cast him in my head with the latest hunky teen actors of the decade. *g

Ah, the Conner-movie screenplay. Yes. How awesome would *that* be.
And work is mega hectic at the moment, so I won't get to talk/read at length (ignore this long comment *g*) until tonight, so you can expect me to be bugging you with stuff upon your return from your next viewing. Heh.
Yeah, y'know, when we're both retired and looking for something to do with our spare time... Or if Singer ever contacts you about a job, feel free to poke me for input. *g* I'd only ask for my name in *tiny* blue glowy letters at the start of the movie.

I loved Richard, though! Such a great *human* man and I loved how they steered away from making him utterly bitter and resentful of Superman.
