go pirates!

So I noticed a few cuts in Veronica Mars last night. Apparently there were a couple with Smallville, too, so I must go watch closely to figure out what they were. The 7:30 timeslot needs a PG rating so they do have to edit out some of the violence, and poor old Lilly copped the brunt of the censors. I don't know if the Lilly gore was really ( Read more... )

I think I got the gist, but I'm not sure if it's from flist osmosis or because of the subtleties I did pick up on.

Beyond the time slot, I'm not sure of the point of censoring stuff on TV - isn't it made for a TV sensibility? And goodness knows the Americans are...more prudish than we are to generalise.

*giggles* Father Bob?

Am I a bad fan if I say the only things I think Chloe and Veronica really have in common are their hair? I don't see much resemblance. Could be having seen Veronica only once, but she seems different already to me.

I came in midway through season 1, when things were already established and kicking along so maybe that's why it didn't feel like the premise was clear last night - I'm relying on the knowledge of episodes to come or something.

But yeah, there didn't really seem to be a need for the censoring. I can remember certain censored SV scenes making no sense back in the day and if that happens again, we're in trouble. I'm going to have to send away for that classification information they always advertise on TV, just to see what we're up against. Also, I heard something on ABC radio a couple of years ago, back when the SV censoring was on my mind and possibly when Janet Jackson showed her nipple, where they talked about censorship here and in America. It seems we're more strict on violence, and they're more strict on sex. It was an interesting look at society through pop culture.

Ooh, I just discovered Father Bob has a blog so my day is complete. I just love how he looks so cute and cuddly but then he'll cut you down with one sentence, and ( ... )

It could be that too.

I can't even remember any censored SV scenes except the one at the end of Dichotic where the guy falls off and you see him about to fall, then it cuts to Chloe and Lana looking down and it's clear what happened, but...

THat makes sense, the stricter on violence thing.

Hee. He does!

Oh, I lvoe that, I really do. Hee. Possibly.

Kind of Chloe-ish, I guess, but she feels different. Oh, teaming up would be fun.

Why did no one ever tell me Veronica's dad was Elliott from Just Shoot Me, though? Hee. I like him.

I plan to have 50,000 words on that, the tree community up and running, and my dishes done by 11:59pm tomorrow. *cracks up*

You can do it!! *throws confetti and streamers and waves pompoms*

If God can hold off on his premature Christmas light shows (ie big storms) I'm pretty sure I can get NaNo done (well, 50,000 words on the screen, but it's in no way a story.

Then it's just to finish off the comm, and move onto housework.

Easy. *whimpers*

Bah! Stories (just like movie plots) are over-rated!
You can do it!!

I'm not looking forward to my clean-up either...

The cuts were annoying, but I still enjoyed watching it on tv. 7:30 really isn't the best time for some of the heavy VM issues. If the show does well I can imagine them playing it back to back with The O.C. or something similar next year. I'm looking forward to the box sets!

I can't even remember if I commented in one of your previous posts, but I watched most of Smallville on Sunday night. I may be coming your way with some questions in the future, 'cause I missed the recap part *g*

Good luck with the tree and dishes and NaNo! How fast did November go?! You can do it! =D

I can see them having trouble with the timeslot later on in the series, especially so yes, the OC teamup would be a great idea!

And ask away regarding Smallville! I'm always happy to gush about my show.

November is far, far too short, I've come to realise.
