The poet, with floppish demeanor and total ignorance of the shenanigans his elder self is getting up to in the bar, is sprawled sideways over a chair near Pickles, huddled inside a poofy sweater, because it is DAMN cold here.

"I dunno, babe. If you wanna take a nap or something, that's cool. I could watch TV in the room."

He's never travelled anywhere the people spoke primarily a different language.

New York City doesn't count.

"How're you doin' anyway? You seem kinda... I dunno... tense."

Ignorance is bliss or something similar.
"Nngh. Don't worry about it, babe, it's just a thing." Pickles muttered, shrugging it off. "Dude, totally turn on the TV, I hear they have naked weather girls here." This of course, was completely and utterly true, but not at all hours of the day. If given a chance, Pickles would spend a whole day vegging out, watching Swedish broadcast television, just for the plain laugh-factor.

Or as they say in the 2000s, the lulz.

But this was 1995, the year of reckoning for technology everywhere. Windows 95 had just become the THING, and Pickles was wholly uninterested, even though he wanted one of those new playstation whatsamajiggies. In any case... Where were we. Oh yes.

Stupid mental tangents.

"Wouldn't mind havin' a little drink before we did anything or anything like that."

Miniver had the good (or bad?) luck to leave his time just prior to the introduction of videogames. He's heard the term before, but hasn't got the faintest idea what it means.

When he finds out, he'll be suitably flabbergasted. In the meantime, he's very much more... lol computers whut?

"A drink sounds good. Something warm maybe. Naked weathergirls?" He chuckles. "That actually sounds like something worth seeing. But seriously, doll. Just a thing? Is it a thing that ain't anything anyone needs to bother with or a thing where you could maybe use a backrub and a nap or a thing where maybe we should go find some ducks to throw rocks at or what?"

Pickles laughed, "Leave the ducks alone, Cheev, I'm alright, okay? It ain't anything worth gettin' worked up over. I'll tell you what, I'll order some room service, how's that sound, and then we can just sit around, watch the tube, maybe drink 'til our hearts stop... It'll be great!"

He set the newspaper aside, opened to the page with Gengegar Elder's ad on it, and slipped onto the bed, legs crossed.

"Sounds good, love."

Miniver unfolds himself out of his sweater and slips onto the bed next to Pickles, sliding flattened hands over his back. He leans in to give a quick nibble to the back of Pickles' neck.

"What kinda room service they got in this place? Like fish or something? And would you rather I order?"
