thy vs. thine?

ok, grammar queens and mommas, I think this was part of a really weird dream the other night and now it's bugging me a-lot. When do you use "thy vs. thine" as in "To thine own self be true" and other flowery talk like that. I had a line working it's way through my head it needed the extra British touch of a thy/thine but then my brain got stuck ( Read more... )

that's it as far as i know - i believe that it was originally a pronunciation thing. just like "the" is "thuh" before a consonant and "thee" before a vowel. because otherwise the words blend.
