I think the control freak man next door must have put out poison... last night, before dinner, as I was painting screens in the garage, a mother mouse and two babies crawled in and flopped over and proceeded to die horrible deaths in front of my eyes, one of the babies living longer than the others, curling up next to the dead brother for a while,

i'm traumatized just by reading about this mousey demise. maybe the countryside isn't for me after all.

This is why God gave us cats; so we wouldn't have to watch dying baby mice curl up next to their dead siblings. Instead you get to slip on their little livers in the middle of the night. I wanted to make a mouse poison that was like heroin or ecstasy. The animal would die a most delightful death. I guess I still do. Maybe the local shelter would lend you a cat for while. They always need foster families.

and the finger is the emergency room episode on May 22, birthday of youngest, the injury resulting from a fall from the standing on the back of the couch while trying to hide a present in a REALLY GOOD place (which it then wasn't, she found it right away) and it should be healed this week... but I took the brace off last night and finger collapsed... been doing too much, ignoring the injury... had to be a finger gimp...
